Hell yah Dansby. Top of the order coming through in the 4th. 4-1. Still nobody out.

I don't think I would have given Dansby another pitch right in that same spot after he crushed the first one foul. He didn't miss the second one either.

Cody and Dansby have been quite the duo.

Not often you see a guy blast a foul ball homer and immediately straighten it out for a dinger the next pitch.

That was pretty great location but total bummer. He hasn't been the lockdown guy lately.

Which is fine, I’m more than happy if he can be a solid number 2 that occasionally has great outings and rarely has blow up outings. Same with Stroman when he returns. If the offense continues to play this week that will get us far.

Way more than I expected from Steele when he first came up that’s for sure.

Would love to get a true ace though whether it’s Horton or via FA/trade

Ok a little surprised they pulled Steele after 5 and 84 pitches.

I’m guessing we’re going to start seeing load management for him.

I guess I get it. Especially during a stretch with 3 off days in 8 day span you can lean on your pen a little more which has been sharp.

Also Assad make this a more viable option by going 7 yesterday

I saw Dan Szymborski made this comment the other day:

It's worth noting that Steele's in new territory for workload and in fewer starts (22) than last year (24)

I think for Justin to take that next step he needs to develop his changeup. Everything moves the same way and it seems like hitters haven’t been getting jammed as much in the second half as the first. I think he has had a remarkable year for the most part.

Pretty crappy stuff from Leiter, who seemed to be scared to throw a strike to a guy with a barely 600 OPS

2 strikes to Schneider who doubles, 2 strikes to Biggio who walks, 2 strikes to Espinal who doubles.  Meanwhile we went to at least 3 balls to 5 of the 7 hitters in the inning.

was it really necessary to go to the “lefty” to face a couple of lefty hitters that suck?

Ross definitely got too cute there, especially with Fulmer looking pretty good.

No probably not, seems weird to pull your starter early and then start pulling your top relievers early for matchup purposes in the 6th inning.
