Ross wanted an excuse to horsefeathers bunt so he put in Madrigal. Never mind that he probably gave us the best chance of anyone to get that run in the way he's swinging it.

High heat still a huge kryptonite for most of this team. 

 

Hate to say it but Showalter pulled all the right strings on this game. Going to Hartwig that early threw off the offense.

How many times has he bunted with Madrigal with runners on in the 9th this year? Several I believe and I don’t recall any of the times producing a run.

That was an absolutely awful way to lose., bunting and giving up an out in front of possibly the worst hitter in the lineup in that situation.  That also effectively took the bat out of Nico's hands with the open base at first.  So instead of needing 1 hit from Madrigal, Morel, or Nico, we got strikeouts from Morel and Happ.

Whenever the games start to get big, his poor managing shows up.  Always, from the moment he left Hendricks in too long in the 2020 WC game, to now.
