Last night was quite the rollercoaster. The Cubs won going away while the Cards showed their ass all night long.

Worst. Franchise.

Beat them again, please.

Also, welcome back to .500, Cubbies! Chicago now sits only four games out of the final Wild Card berth.

Should be Smyly's spot in the rotation, but last time around they did the weird Fullmer start.

Yeah, someone just tag me when it's announced and I'll update the info.

As you can probably guess, I'm all over the place right now with the deadline intensifying.

The Cubs seem to be avoiding starting Smyly as evidenced by Ross admitting they didn't know what was going to happen the next time his turn came up. So who knows.

During the post game last night, Ross said “a right-hander” would start tonight.

Wesneski getting called up maybe?

It's his turn tonight in the Iowa rotation, so it would make a lot of sense.

They could easily do a piggyback with Wesneski and Smyly if they want to keep up this weird experiment with Smyly.

Cards Twitter is still fuming about last night. I wonder if they hit another Cubs player because they are mad at the umps.

Definitely makes the most sense. I'm eager to see him get another shot.

Wesneski is starting tonight at Iowa. No announcement on a change there but maybe they bring him up and have him start anyway.

I wouldn't mind getting the lead runner on base and a 1st inning rally again.

and the starter out after one pitch.

It's not going to happen.

I'm suspicious when they hit Amaya with a fastball up and in late in the game in the Cubs last at-bats with the score blown out.

Amaya is a catcher and basically Contreras' longterm replacement that helped get Willson bounced from the Cubs.

I didn't watch yesterday's game, but Amaya has 10 HBP in 94 PA so I wouldn't take him getting hit as suspicious in and of itself.

Well they went with a righty in Fulmer last Smyly start so it could be another reliever based on who was available after last night.

I would be very fine skipping Smyly for a start or 2 and giving him some rest and letting Wesneski start.

If they IL him retroactive to the last game he pitched in on 7/22, that means he'd be available to come off on 8/7.  Probably not a bad move to make at this point if he's agreeable to it.

You can only backdate stints 3 days now. The farthest back they can go is the 25th.

Apparently Chip Caray went on the Score a few minutes ago to double down on his rant last night about unwritten rules and all that horsefeathers.  What a horsefeathers tool.

Man, there's nothing more than I hate about people whinging and moaning about fictitious rules that only exist in their brain.

Example: here's Yan Gomes getting knocked out of a game with a backswing.  No one threw at anyone.
