Watching that video of the Cardinals broadcast, their reactions were equal parts satisfying and mystifying.  I guess the argument was that Mikolas was doing things the "right way" by throwing below the belt and therefore should have only received a warning.  So my question then would be, what if he missed a second time and then threw at the batter a third time?  Is he still ok then?  Can he continue intentionally throwing at batters until he finally hits one and gets warned for it?  I may be a grumpy old baseball purist about a lot of things, but even I can recognize the idea of intentionally throwing at batters is silly.

He also tried to hit him high on the first pitch.

Steele looks gassed out there

I'm on board with getting him through 5 and getting him out of there, hopefully with a big enough lead for Kay and Rucker to eat some innings.

I hate the idea of throwing at batters, but if he'd hit him on the first pitch, even though it was up and in, then I'm sure he would have just gotten a warning. He missed. At that point you either move on or be ready to get ejected. You can't follow up by throwing at him again. The umps don't owe you a warning. If you're going to be that obvious about it then be ready to leave the game. So much shock and anger that a guy got tossed after throwing at somebody twice and staring him down afterwards. I'd love to hear his explanation to the umps.

Just realized none of the other division or WC contenders play tonight so free 0.5 game for the Cubs in both races with a win. 4 GB WC and 5.5 GB division if we finish this off.

The story made me sad. The poor thing was eaten alive for the lols

I mean is that not some sort of animal cruelty?  I'm not going to watch it but the radio announcer pulled up the video on the broadcast and watched it.  She's silent for a few seconds and then you hear "oh...oh...oh my god it's wriggling"

I would have pulled him before the sixth for the heat, for September, etc. But ‘gassed’ is kinda just how Steele looks all the time.

side note: this is fun as hell, maybe we can keep trying and deal with 2025 later?

Yeah, any doubt went out the window when you throw at him a second time.

I didn’t know Chip Carrey was the Cardinals announcer. I also thinks it’s hilarious the play by play guy said Mikolas hit him the “right way”.  Such a pretentious organization all around.

He replaced Dan Mclaughlin after the latter DWI'd himself for at least the second time because apparently 2 dumbass players killing themselves by driving drunk is still not enough for that organization.

Remarkable that even when they're a complete disaster they remain so hateable.
