Boxberger seems like a good fit to be 2023 Givens in terms of bullpen role. That dollar figure also means they should still be in the running for someone like May, Lugo, or Fulmer even if they aren't spending big on the pen. One of those guys, and maybe a little more depth on non-guaranteed deals or near the minimum(e.g. Giles, Reyes, Leone, maybe Britton) and I'll be satisfied with the pen assuming one more SP is coming.

Solid deal, like it. Assuming is treated/used as like the 4th best RP and we do another add or two there, even in this level. I think the bullpen will be a strength.

Hopefully we can flip him for some lottery pick single A who has an incredible second half and becomes the new Future guy to build around when he's ready in 2026, so let's hold off on signing anyone big until then.

Boxberger is good. Something funny about him is that for the most part he's been really good when playing for teams big on pitch design and pretty bad when he hasn't. I think there's a decent argument his time with the Royals and Marlins is unfairly weighing down his projections.

Like TT said I'd like to see the team go a bit bigger on the other FA reliever. But do that and maybe grab another live arm in trade (for Madrigal?) and the pen should be a really strong unit.

I just saw that the Red Sox DFA'd Jeter Downs and they're a sneaky good fit for Madrigal. I wonder how close Madrigal for Houck gets you, considering they don't seem to have interest in making him a SP again and they certainly aren't relying on him for late innings given the addition of Jansen/Martin and his back surgery last fall.

Yes please

Houck, Luzardo…pulling a 95+ pre-FA SP candidate sure would be nice…AJ Puk’s working out for a shot to start this offseason…Matt Brash…Adrian Morejon, Ryan Weathers is 94…Someone

Seriously, who the horsefeathers would want to trade for Nick Madrigal for anyone with any value to a major league team?

I mean, I know we are grasping at straws but this is not even a straw. By this time next year he will be playing in Asia.
