And now another DT.

This is pretty much a whip it out and dare someone to call it small draft, huh?

nah, this is just throwing resources at a problem

we'll see

I won't pretend to be enough of a scout to have strong opinions on guys in the 2nd and 3rd rounds or whatever.  I just really like the approach of making a ton of picks.  Two picks in a part of the draft that has a 50% hit rate will always be a better bet than one, even if you really truly love the one.

If it turns out they suck at drafting, then it doesn't really matter, sure.  Brisker was good, Gordon flashed at best, VJJ sucked, and everyone else was handed jobs by the tank so it's hard to say.

I'm intrigued by the idea of prioritizing pass coverage over pass rush.  That would at least be an attempt to be at the front of the curve instead of chasing it.

Apparently Dexter is excellent at everything once he gets going, but he has an ungodly slow first step.

If we wanted DT so badly just take best DT in the draft.

I agree with this, IF Carter didnt show up to his pro day with a huge monkey on his back and unmotivated. I still would have drafted him, but with perspective I can see Poles decision

Poles still took the hard way: Wright has to pan out

How so... They still have no DE or interior lineman.

That is true, they haven't addressed 7 needs with 4 picks, but they have addressed 4 needs with 4 picks.

2 needs with 4 picks

CB is definitely a need, just ask Vildor how that worked out for the team last year. And drafting 2 DTs when you have 0 useful DTs is a need.

So since the offseason started, we've picked up new starts at WR, OG, LB, LB, DE, RB, OT, and at least one DT at a minimum.   That's 36% of your 22 in a single offseason.

Poles has had plenty of time to put his stamp on this team now.  There's no reason for the 2023 season to not reflect on his player evaluation abilities, no passes for tanking or whatever.

Day 3 I'd like to see the Bears pick up an interior lineman or two, an edge rusher or two, and a RB that can spell the starters and as depth pieces to what was a thin and bad team last year.

They've worked to address two of their biggest 3 issues on defense in the draft, their 31st ranked run D at the line, and their secondary depth (when Johnson was out opposing offenses could effectively complete any pass they want). Need to put some work into players that will actually pressure opposing QBs at this point, either in the draft or after some cap casualties for other teams (since the Bears still have a solid amount of cap space sitting there doing nothing).

So who was the Jean Ralphio douchrbag that announced the last bear pick?

is there an interesting name to trade back into the 3rd for? They don’t need the depth as much as they could use another top 100 pick

Adebawore is still on the board.
