Guess what 32 idiots who own NFL team did this offseason...

Uhh he’s not wrong

And what does Dolphins owner Stephen Ross get for trying to pay Flores to tank? I'm sure there will be some evidence, nothing conclusive, and nothing will happen, but hearing Goodell talk about the sanctity of the game if this is true is quite the double standard.

Of course. Goodell is paid to represent the owners not the players. There's no way that story goes anywhere IMO.

I am sure the NFL's investigation was calling Ross up and asking if this was true.

The Broncos have agreed to trade quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant, defensive lineman Shelby Harris, two first-round picks, two second-round picks and a fifth-round pick to the Seahawks for Wilson and a fourth-round pick, sources said.

Wasn’t GB is cap space hell to begin with?

His deal actually creates cap space for them.

I get how that works, but damn doesn't seem right to me.

To hell with it, he sucks in the playoffs hopefully that continues. He watched both Brady and Stafford move on and win Super Bowls. But he sticks around in GB. Hope it blows up in his COVID-denying face.

horsefeathers GB, I'm glad that pissant lying sack of feces re-upped, I want him to be the QB when the Bears start beating the Packers.

I've said this before but the salary cap is an absolute joke and needs to be fixed. If you don't want a salary cap then fine get rid of it. But you have teams like the Saints that are going to restructure deals and defer contracts until an asteroid hits the earth and destroys all life on the planet. Whats the point if you can just continue to circumvent the cap?

The point of the cap is to make sure the player share of revenue is hit. It's really not about competetive balance or whatever. Some teams are eventually gonna be takers and others not, and they'll reallocate the bucket.

Wouldn't that be a salary floor then? Or is it to protect the owners from going over the player share of revenue?

The point of the cap is to suppress spending. The ability to maneuver around it is just a mechanism to allow the team that want to win to keep their most popular players and it does not need to be fixed. We don't need added hurdles to owners spending.

Yes, broadly speaking the point of having a revenue share is to suppress spending.

I think even in the uncapped year, the NFL penalized two teams after the fact for basically treating it like the uncapped year it was.

Well there is a cash floor of 90% (over either 3 or 4 year periods).

But the ability for a team to overspend is there and if enough teams did overspend over a long enough time then eventually the future year cap growths would be impacted because provisions exist to basically claw back or catch up any year where the revenue split target isn't met.

In my non-expert mind this discussion tells me that it’s mostly a mirage that teams might be hampered by cap issues. But I hear that kind of talk a lot. Not too long ago someone here seemed convinced that the Packers wouldn’t be able to keep Rodgers. Yet here we are, and with Adams back too.

Oh yea, the cap is a great excuse to not spend money for owners/GMs. But reality is there's almost always a way to figure things out.

This and, I'm being optimistic, what the horsefeathers else do we have as Cubs and Bears fans?

I'm confused about his season and the Colts desire to trade him. His numbers look solid, but I didn't watch him a ton. I know the whole team fell flat on their faces against Jacksonville but unless the Colts have an immediate better option not sure the rush to trade him.

I thought he started the season strong but kinda flattened out

But like...what is their backup option? Sure this allows them to try to find their QB of the future and clears his salary but I dunno he seemed acceptable enough to keep around until a better option appeared.

My guess is Mitch Trubisky himself

Wentz is a tough QB to commit to, my feel is the Colts wanted out early especially after a collapse down the stretch. His injury history is pretty serious: a concussion (those are forever) against the Seahawks during the playoffs in 2019 was immediately followed with leading the league in INTs and a sub-60% competition rate for 2020, the knee in 2017 cost him alot of athleticism, and there's some back and foot stuff mixed in too. He came into the league as one of the better athletes at the position but that's long gone...

Rumors are the Giants want Mitch and assuming there is a real possibility of starting, I'm sure he'd want to play under Daboll again.

I still don't think Mitch will be all that great as a starter, but I'm absolutely terrified at the possibility of that happening. If that happens I'm going to Lake Forest and trashing Nagy's $6m home that's on the market.

You're terrified of Biscuit becoming a great starter with the Giants? Lol.

I wouldn't be surprised if they signed Mitch, I saw an article this morning tha stated he is (his agent) fielding multiple points of inquiry. He wasn't bad, and honestly not even really below average. HE was just average and Nagy sucked. I'm sure their are coaches/teams that think hes worth the trouble to take a chance on
