It definitely feels like the steroids scandal in that we are seeing these massive jump in statistics and people try to find logical reasons behind it when in actuality it is massive cheating and in like 10 years we will be looking back at it thinking “duh of course that’s why”

and batting averages plummeting, strikeouts at absurd levels. Sure launch angle and better technology for identifying and developing pitchers, etc can contribute to this but it’s hard to believe such a dramatic shift in baseball over the last 3+ years is solely due to those things.

I think that for a long time now the umps have been told not to check or do anything unless the other team complains. So, since every team started to have at least one guy doing it, and none of the teams were going to complain unless it was over the top obvious or they wanted to cause an issue, it snowballed into what it is now.

There’s no team that should be panicking more than the Brewers. It’s one thing for one young starter to get off to a smoking hot start; but for Burnes (whose spin rate has already taken a documented dip,) Woodruff, & Peralta- all quality mid rotation guys, to suddenly become Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz is highly improbable.

 

Couple that with their anemic offense, and they could be in trouble.
