Sorry I don’t buy it. Maybe that’s something he wants to do but I don’t see the logic of making that jump randomly like this

Len said about a billion times that he would love to be the voice of the Cubs until he retired. Something must have happened.

This is horsefeathering awful. Like really horsefeathering awful.

Like what in the horsefeathers? This makes no horsefeathering sense unless there was some horsefeathers going on behind the scenes. Shouldn’t have made them horsefeathering dress up.

This is bizarre horsefeathers.

Really the only thing that makes this makes sense as a career move and not a I've got to get the horsefeathers out of here move, is if he's got a side national job lined up and Marquee said no to him being off for Saturdays or something.

If he enjoys radio and wants to call playoff games, maybe that’s more important to Len than moving up the TV food chain. I could see him as the type that just wants to do what makes him happy, not what makes him the most money. What’s a radio broadcaster get compared to TV? Half or less than half?

Len’s contract ended in 2019, right? What kind of an extension did he sign?

If this was supposedly his dream to call radio, was this never discussed with the Cubs? We’re they not willing to accommodate him or at least have a succession plan to offer him? Was the desire that strong that he had to leave suddenly like this and bolt to the other team in town?

I love Pat Hughes even more than Len and he’s only 65 so Im certainly not suggesting they dump Pat. I guess maybe he planned on calling games for another 10 years or so. Anyways this is so shocking and sudden that something just seems fishy.

Yeah I was just going to say if doing radio was his dream he could have just waited out Pat.... so I looked Pat up to find he's 'only' 65. I would have guessed he was over 70 before looking it up.

Could always come back to the Cubs when Pat retires. Speaking of Pat, there’s no chance he wants the TV job? Don’t know if he’d be a good fit there, but if it’s him or Chris Myers.

My goodness if Myers gets the job...

I've stated before that I'm finding myself caring less about the Cubs now then I have at any point in my adult life. I think this is the tipping point where I just don't really care anymore. The owner is a piece of horsefeathers, my favorite Cub announcer of my lifetime is gone, the team completely botched starting the rebuild at an appropriate time so now we're looking at a handful of years of mediocre to bad baseball. Schwarber is gone, kb and rizzo likely gone after this year. Sigh.

This sucks so much. Leaving for the [expletive] white sox radio booth!?!????!!!!! horsefeathers Marquee, Crane and the Ricketts. They had to go hire bum ass Chris Meyers too and couldn’t at lease soften the blow with someone cool like Sciambi.

Probably thought the Ricketts were cheap and slimy bastards which they are.

lol there's no way the White Sox radio booth job is paying more than Marquee.

Something reeks. horsefeathers you Ricketts family

Also, I would assume the Sox tv guy who name escapes me is probably moving on after 2021 to a national job so maybe Len is only doing radio next year

Posted

Maybe it was Len’s dream to work for a team with a 95 year old alcoholic manager

Or maybe last year broke Len’s spirits as much as it broke ours

This is so disappointing, and Chris Myers... ugh. I don't even know what to say. No way the Cubs should have let this happen.

Seriously, how long before JD is pushed out and it is Myers and Dempster?

Yeah, I imagine Len is well enough in demand that he doesn't need to put up with what this franchise has become. But damn this hurts.
