Loyola Chicago looks better than an 8 seed. Their record even reflects that.

 

I find it pretty amazing they've only 4 fouls with how aggressive they're being on D.

They have to figure out a better way to reconcile the difference between resume and NET rating/advanced metrics when seeding teams. Really doesn’t seem fair for a 1 seed to face a top 15 team in the 2nd round

This was the game, if they'd pulled it out Final Four at least, unfortunate thing is after such a great game. Loyola will be obliterated by Oklahoma State watch.

That might have been Ayo’s worst game in college
Ayo was a great college player, but I still don't think he does any one thing well enough to be a top NBA prospect. He got stronger/more athletic and his jump shot is a lot better, but his ball handling isn't great and I don't know if he can match up with NBA 2-guards. I'll be rooting for him, but I question how much upside he actually has.

Tough game but great season for Illini, all friction aside.

 

We are 1.5 games into the second round and the mighty Big Ten is down to Michigan, Iowa, Maryland and Rutgers assuming Wisconsin is done.

 

Have a bad feeling about facing LSU tomorrow, Iowa is in Gonzaga’s bracket and Maryland/Rutgers are 10 seeds with limited upside. Time to be ridiculed

Didn't like that match up either, guess we're looking at Iowa as the Big Ten' best hope? Yuck.

I doubt it. Loyola is good and play a style that can be a difficult matchup when you aren't used to it. I think they beat OSU and could make a deep run. This isn't making it a michigan thing or anything, but I would rather have faced any team from their region (including Michigan or alabama) instead of Loyola--and I would have said that before today's game.
