I had no idea that Pierce Johnson was a thing in San Diego. Amazing how pitchers can develop after they leave the Cubs org (kidding somewhat)

Pretty sure he went to Korea or Japan for a few years and added some velo

Didn't know James Rowson was working for the Marlins as bench coach and OC, but that's one step away from manager!

Twins kinda collapsed after he left and Marlins obviously got much better

Dustin May cranks up 100 mph with the easiest delivery.

Totally irrational on my part but, currently, its seems as if every team in baseball except, of course, the Cubs, is able to find and develop these hard tossing relievers. If every other team manages to do so it can't be all that difficult.

I think it's both. The Cubs failed at pitching development for several years, and thankfully there's some signs that they've turned things around in that regard. That said, Dustin May was pick #101 and got 2x his draft pool to sign, so getting those guys is rarely as simple as digging around in the metaphorical trash. Or if you are, you get guys the Cubs have surfaced, like Norwood for example.

those padres relievers looked just like cubs relievers. nowhere close to the plate about 70% of the time.

The Marlins have lost a playoff series for the first time in franchise history.

Crazy how they got their teeth kicked in as soon as they faced a functional baseball team

So remember when Chapman threw at the head of the Rays player a couple weeks ago? Well that guy, Mike Brosseau, hit a series winning homer off Chapman in the 8th inning.

Poetic justice at its finest.

i kind of want the astros to win, and then have the format go back to 5 playoff teams next year. since they got in at 29-31, they'd have 2 fake championships that nobody but them will ever take seriously

I hope Tommy recovers, and it sounds like he was bit of a victim of circumstance, but yesterday if I had to answer the question “which MLB player just got stabbed in an argument outside a strip club”, Tommy probably would’ve been at the top of the list.

I was just thinking how cool it would have been if they didn’t already repurpose the old Globe Life park for football. They could have had a true bubble with games going on simultaneously across the street from each other
