Can we admit the Dodgers are better than the Cubs now?

No, sham season. Still haven’t won a real World Series with the rough main core guys from 2015 on.

This plus having one stolen by cheaters should at least equal the one for the Cubs.

Congrats on your giant asterisk championship

it's legit. everyone played and was invested. covid actually kind of hurt them in the sense that they had to play an extra playoff round despite being the best team in baseball.

They had to play under 100 games including the playoffs. It was and always will be a sham, asterisk season.

everyone did. we all know they'd have made the playoffs no matter what. i don't see how the short season helped them in any way or made it easier

It was a shorter and not regular season, therefore a sham and asterisk season. Had less time for injuries and fatigue to set in and other things on top of them not having to do the 162+ game grind that normal years revisited. Simple as that.

They also let a COVID positive player play in this game. SHAM!

So Arozarena had 29 hits in the playoffs, including 3 doubles, 1 triple and 10 home runs but only 14 RBI. Rays just didn't do enough offensively.

Yeah and they allowed a lot of runs above their average as well. Without him they are swept in embarrassing fashion.

Friedman deserves a lot of praise for the way he's assembled the roster, high-end talent up and down. They have im counting 16 homegrown players, a handful of scrap heap finds, a few acquired through trade, but no big-ticket FA. Pollock is the only FA they paid more than 10m AAV to. Their farm is still loaded both in the short and long term.

God we need player development on this level. I believe last year was a huge step in the right direction pitching-wise. But not enough high-end talent across the board.

I don’t think it’s an asterisk from the pandemic in general but this turner thing sounds like it has legs. Tested positive yesterday and today and the dodgers just forced him into the game? Wtf?

The Rays should protest. Manfred will probably just ignore it. Now it’s an asterisk championship!

I don't get the anti-dodgers sentiment. It's about the only team in baseball willing to pay for talent and they've had a great run as a result and have won the world series. That's a good thing. horsefeathers the penny pinchers.

The miserable sports fan in me that has had 1 championship in the last 22 years/since I was 14 got an unhealthy enjoyment out of the Dodgers run of not coming through in the end. Now that it's happened their winning was about the same as the Royals winning to me.

Their ability to get huge production out of scrap heap guys like Turner, Muncy and Taylor has been the thing that’s impressed me most. I mean, that’s just not fair that they can turn those guys’ careers around AND have the player development AND have nearly unlimited funds to re-sign their players and patch the occasional roster gap with a FA.

Betts and Price are the only truly big ticket contracts they have after 2021 and Price is off the books after 2022. Although, I imagine they are going to start extending some of their stars, with Buehler, Bellinger and Seager probably at the top of their wishlist.

this turner stuff does not add up at all

It's so much worse now. He was asked to leave and isolate and he refused and when they won he went back on the field and celebrated with the team maskless. Out there, COVID positive, maskless, giving people hugs and horsefeathers. Unbelievable.

The whole team likely needs to be/should be forced to quarantine now.

it's funny that the dodgers finally won the world series and it's only the 3rd most talked about thing from the game

I know it's not a scientific or anything, but the reddit "Dodgers win the WS" post is only at about 19k score. The Cubs one from 2016 ended up at about 69k, and the post for the Astros getting elminated from the playoffs this year was at about 59k.

So basically nobody cares about the Dodgers.
