When was the last time the Cubs actually were good with bags jammed and no outs?..

I remember the Cubs loaded the bases with 0 out against the Braves in the 03 NLDS, and my first thought was “oh no, we never do anything with the bases loaded and no out.” My opinion of the Cub’s abilities with the bases loaded has never changed in the 17 seasons between. Although Im sure they were pretty good there in 08 and 16.

I’m pretty sure Kerry Wood cleared the bases with a 2 out double, though.

Ok i went and looked it up. There was probably a way to do this more efficiently but whatever...

The Cubs have had 6 situations where they’ve loaded the bases and 0 outs this season. Here is how they have done:

1-14 with 1 BB and 3 runs scored

9/5 vs. STL - 0-3, 0 runs scored

8/29 at CIN- 0-2, 1 run scored on sac fly, 1 BB (after the sac fly)

8/22 vs. CWS - 0-2, 0 runs scored, GIDP

8/21 vs. CWS - 0-2, 0 runs scored, GIDP

8/3 vs. KC - 0-2, 1 run scored on sac fly, 1 BB after sac fly

7/31 vs. PIT - 1-3, 1 run scored on a single

It's kind of incredible that we're somewhat comfortably in first place with Bryant, Rizzo and Javy all being aggressively horsefeathering useless

What would the Cubs record be if Happ, Darvish and Jeffress were replaced by replacement level players?
That depends. Do we also get to replace Bryant with a replacement level player?

Welp, Cubs had all the momentum, had Wainright flustered early and then choked on a bases loaded 0 outs situation and really didn’t do much of anything the rest of the game besides Happ’s HR.

Stupid unnecessary loss.

Cubs in the second inning had bases loaded no outs and couldn’t score. Cards have bases loaded one out in the third and get two runs.

Margin of victory? 2 runs.

Wow. I mean he probably deserves to be DFAd but there has to be something else that happened to be let go in between games of a doubleheader, unless the Cubs have another guy already at Wrigley
