Figures the Bears lose by 1 score in a game the refs basically gifted the Packers a TD. I know they still had to go 35 yards, but if they correctly give the ball to the Bears at midfield there is a chance the Bears score instead.

Not going to blame the loss on the refs but outside of that possession the score was 14-13. Had a pretty dramatic shift in the game

Womp womp.

At this point Trubisky will be around again next year, and there are no real good options to replace him anyways. Use the next 2 games and, I dunno, maybe the preseason next year to develop him in any way you can. Draft and sign nothing but OL, TE, and edge rushers. Don't let Pace trade away and future draft picks, and next year either goes well and we're in the playoffs, or goes bad and Pace, Nagy and Trubisky are all gone.

I would draft a K too.

If anything, the way things are setting up there are more options for QB than most years. I think Philip Rivers, Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Marcus Mariota, Nick Foles, Teddy Bridgewater and Eli Manning could all realistically be had. In some cases we probably don’t have the resources or cap space, and in other cases like Eli especially it’s likely not an upgrade.

But the fact is there are a lot of potential QBs that should be available if you want to give up on Mitch or at least challenge him.

Focus on positions with longevity like OL. There’s no salvaging this iteration of the Bears anyway. Nothing to do but cry and wait for 2021 when you at least have a first-rounder to try again for a franchise QB.

What’s Mack’s excuse for being invisible this week?

If QB was your only need to get to the Superbowl and it was glaring, I'd think Rivers, Manning or Newton were maybe options, but they're all more likely to regress than rebound... Especially since none of them have a lot of experience in the Reid/Nagy style playbook. Dalton and Mariota have shown even less promise than Trubisky of late. Foles and Bridgewater are somewhat intriguing, and I wouldn't mind either of them as backups/competition but not flat out replacements... And you'd still have to fix the OL/TE to give either of them a legit chance

horsted had the final pitch for the td right there

Sucks...plus the ball went through Ridley’s hands the play before in the end zone. For some reason I get less pissed off at stuff like that knowing that we still would have had to covert the 2 point conversion and win in OT.

Since they’ve already made it legal to challenge pass interference, can you see any downsides to allowing coaches to challenge almost any penalty? I mean either way you are only allowed 2 challenges a game so it’s not like they’d be slowing the game down anymore than it is. I just don’t see why you can challenge a potential pass interference but you can’t review whether the returner caught the ball before he was hit and fumbled. A missed call like that can affect the game just as much as a missed pass interference

Edit: maybe you make it so that a team can only challenge one potential penalty a game to save you from challenging a relatively inconsequential penalty

Officially eliminated from the playoffs by a combination of the Packers (beating us) and Vikings (getting their 10th win).

12 of last 14 seasons watching the playoffs. Last back to back playoff seasons 2005-06.

How has this Packer team won 11 games? The numbers suggest it's average to below average team, must be TO margin.

They’re winning close games this year, unlike in the recent past. Don Capers defense and the personnel he had had would’ve lost yesterday’s game late, along with several others this season.

Sucks that if the Bears won yesterday, our path to the playoffs would have been relatively simple:

Win last 2 games and 1 Rams loss (@SF next week)

Bears would have won tiebreaker over Packers by divisional record if Vikings beat them next week and over Vikings by H2H if the Packers beat them.

Oh well....

Packers would've had to lose to the Lions if the Vikings beat them. Otherwise both would be 11-5

Ahh crap, for some reason I forgot the Packers already had 10 wins coming into yesterday, disregard then

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/201912150gnb.htm#all_player_offense - What a frustrating loss, Bears dominating every place except, of course, where it matters most, the scoreboard. If Mitch doesn't throw 2 int. the Bears win this game by double digits. Losers, giving away games, especially to the Packers.

What the hell? First of all, one of the INTs was a Hail Mary at the end of the half. Literally meant nothing to the final score. Secondly, the Bears have beaten 2 teams by double digits. One is in play for the #2 pick. There was 0 realistic chance they win that game yesterday by 10 points if they played next to flawlessly.

Well, I guess technically if the hail mary wasn't intercepted and instead somehow turned into a Bears TD, that could have been meaningful.

But even if they did score there and eventually somehow got a double digit lead, this offense wasn't going to put away the Packers by 10 in the end.

You're probably correct, more a statement of frustration, fumbling, stumbling Bears can't get out of their own way, Mitch misses open receivers, they drop TD passes (Ridley), all the usual [expletive], is aggravating.

I don't think it's fair to classify that as a drop for Ridley. That was a crazy play and he may or may not have even been able to get his feet inbounds.

Yea, that would have been a crazy catch.

The ball was tipped and changed direction 2 feet in front of Ridley's face. Almost impossible to catch at that speed.

If we're talking about reasons we keep losing games like this, a low-key one is the defense's inability to create turnovers.
