Not that Mitch would have done anything but, this game was lost in the first half. For those that watched was Nagy playing it safe, not to lose, I've no faith in the QB mode?

I don't think Shaheen has ever made a good play in the NFL

George Kittle was picked after Shaheen in that draft

Could have had Mahomes, Kamara, Kittle instead of Trubisky, Shaheen, Cohen. Jesus.

I can't even tell because even when there's open receivers downfield, Mitch checks down or runs with it. With one exception where he hit an open receiver downfield.

That reads like Mitch is scared shitless out there, what ever hope there is for his career as an NFL QB, he's got to say horsefeathers it and go balls out aggressive. There's no pressure now, why not be hyper-aggressive?

Apparently Nagy told Mitch the time for talking was done at halftime.

Ice out Mitch the rest of the season. No one talk to him. Avert your eyes if he makes eye contact. Whitehair will get the helmet with the mic and call plays in the huddle.

He's gonna be the poster child for a guy who has some mini career resurgence for like one or two years in his mid 30s.

That's a dumb rule.

It’s not a rule.

Like, I know it's not in the rulebook, but it's apparently one of your "rules" I'm insinuating.

Go run the numbers and see if my “rule” makes sense instead of just saying it’s dumb. There’s a reason you hardly ever see anyone going for 2 in the first three quarters.

Because NFL coaches are notoriously conservative?

I'm not even necessarily arguing the specifics of today, but it shouldn't be a hard and fast rule.

Maybe it's time Nagy got in his face and challenged him, nothing else has worked, No More Mr. Nice Guy Alice Cooper.

Could a one year deal for Philip Rivers work in 2020? Does Rivers have enough for one decent year?

Is there talk he'll actually be available?

A multi year deal would be better if it could actually happen. It seals Pace/Nagy to Rivers and not another young QB who could require years to evaluate. With the Bears cap space, a multi year deal would allow them more creativity to fit him in without forgoing like, everything else

Do not know but, he's listed as a UFA for 2020, would the Chargers put a franchise tag on him at 38-39?

If they haven't lost faith in Lynn, I would think resigning is the most likely outcome. They can take another 2 year swing at things. They just beat a good GB team so it's not like they're falling apart like the Bears.

I had absolutely zero faith in Mitch this summer and I have to say, he has rewarded me in ways I never would have imagined. Just so much worse than my worst worries.

They need to basically take away these short throws. He's not terribly accurate mid to long either but at least when a guy gets a catch it's a first down. These short throws require you putting a WR in a spot to get YAC and he can't do it. Maybe if he got any confidence back he could relearn the other throws.

Run, PA, boot, middle of field throws. I'd feel better about Nagy long term of he showed a capacity to mold around his players rather than trying to continually force Trubisky into a role he clearly can't do. Or you have to go to Daniel to evaluate Nagy with a QB that might fit his scheme, but basically understand long term that Nagy is scheme limited.

I think he’d rather retire than leave his family to play in Chicago

Chargers aren't going to get a good draft position, so the top QB's available in the draft will likely be off the board. They'd be smart to keep Rivers around for another year. Rivers is about the only thing a lot of San Diego Charger fans still hang their hat on. Once Rivers is gone, they will lose another chunk of fan base. With that said, the Bears are looking like quite the dumpster fire at this point, which might be hard to compel any decent QB options to come to Chicago. Trubisky does nothing to make the offensive line look good, and the Bears won't be making any improvements to the line this offseason. Any money they do have to spend this offseason will need to go to a QB, and i don't think it's in the budget to get anyone that will cost $20m+. If this management team had any balls, they would have traded for a QB that could have salvaged a little bit of this season and provide enough hope to be decent next year. I'm so done with Trubisky that I don't even care if Daniel or Bray is worse. Do something. Anything. Except what you are currently doing.

Why doesn't Mitch run any more? That was such a big part of his game last year. He's never going to be a pocket passer. When he got into trouble he'd just run, and at times last year I thought he was driving defenses crazy with that. He ran twice yesterday.

Not that it's going to make him a great QB, but if Nagy's really trying to get the most out of him you'd think he would know that's missing compared to last year and do something about it.
