i am all for great thread titles like this one but can we put "murphy to cubs" or something like that in parentheses so people don't skip past the thread.

it's not exactly being ignored

What's this about Daniel Murphy and ignorance?

If he's taking Russell's ABs, good. If he's taking anyone else's ABs, it's probably still ok but less good.

 

Also, even though it makes perfect sense, it's kind of funny that the week Darvish probably becomes toast and Quintana continues to look like ass and we seem to desperately need a 4th playoff starter that we go trade for another bat.

We still have ~10 days to do a waiver deal for the Marco Estrada’s, James Shields, Clayton Richards, etc of the world. Chatwood/5th spot isn’t up until Friday or Saturday I believe.

 

Yup. I'd be disappointed and surprised if they don't add someone. Estrada seems like that kind of guy.

Same. Dude sucks but also will probably improve the team. It’s not a terrible move baseball wise.

So am I reading this right that we may also be sending cash back to them? I keep seeing that it's Murphy for Monasterio and cash or ptbnl. How does this impact us staying under the cap for the year?

Seriously, do the Nationals even care if the guy we traded them even shows up and reports to A ball this year or next?

Good God.

A 21-year-old prospect in high A ball with a .695 OPS. Boy, the Cubs are screwed in 2021.

This is great:

 

Classic Theo, pedal to the floor at all times...until you've used up all the resources. Then leave and move on to the next big market team in a favorable situation.

 

The Red Sox won the World Series the 2nd season after Theo left, and guys that Theo drafted that are still on their year's record breaking team include Betts, Bogarts and Bradley. Yeah he burned up all the resources and then bailed on them.
