Most of the pitches were close enough, with the exception of the last one. Harper likely would have won anyway. And it was fun to watch, which is really the whole point. So yeah, it sucks that Schwarber lost, but I don't think an umpire waving off home runs for rules violations would be in the spirit of the event.

I'm a little sad to say that after that interview, I don't really...LIKE Bryce Harper. He seems a little like he's a bit full of himself, takes himself too seriously - not sure he'd fit in super well with the loose vibe of the current players.

 

That said, I still obviously WANT him on the Cubs. I just wish I liked him better.

Yeah, that was great. I don't particularly care if Harper's dad was throwing pitches too soon. If you can take that many swings that quickly without tiring out, credit to you. Aguilar tired out, as did Muncy.

 

Harper had 9 homers in that last round with just under a minute left and hit 9 to tie before his bonus time. That's horsefeathering impressive.

Harper was going last in front of his home crowd. If the quick-pitches didn't work, the commissioner himself would have paused the clock at 2 seconds while everyone pretended not to notice. It's fine.
