I would never watch another game. Check out the comments. Have people lost the [expletive] mind?

Sutcliffe is annoying, but I can take him in small doses. If it's just the San Diego series and then JD comes back, I can live with that.

Yeah same here pretty much, he also seems better in a 3 man booth with JD and Boog if they’re gonna insist on doing those. When it’s just him and Boog he talks too much, having JD tones him down, Sut also seems fine in the studio stuff the little I’ve seen.

Deeming this the all things Marquee thread

https://nationworldnews.com/column-criticize-the-chicago-cubs-not-on-marquee-sports-networks-the-reporters-show/

Sunday’s show [on Marquee] featured three veteran journalists – David Hogg of WSCR-AM 670, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times and former sports anchor Peggy Kusinski. They were joined by WGN-AM 720 personality Bob Sirot, who was the moderator.

Sources said a segment on the Cubs’ undisclosed business deadline plans was going smoothly until the former Tribune columnist, and Kusinki, who has a weekly show on WMVP-AM-1000, discussed rebuilding. .

Hoff said Hoyer’s transparency was “lacking”, comparing it to former President Theo Epstein explaining his game plan. Hoff wondered aloud whether Hoyer was “bound to reality” and asked the Cubs president for some clarity. Kusinski agreed and called for honesty.

But soon thereafter the taping was abruptly stopped because journalists were told it was a technical difficulty. He was then informed that he would have to restart this section.

No one was too concerned about the timing, but before they began taping again, reporters were told not to mention the “transparency” angle in the new segment. The subject was avoided and the original segment was edited out when it aired on Sunday mornings.

Hoff and Kusinski declined to comment. Lee could not be reached for comment.

A Marquee spokesperson did not immediately return a message.

I assume that story was tweeted out because what is that website

It was posted on the Trib's website but I don't subscribe so I found another website that copied it. It's a Paul Sullivan article.

I think we discussed last year that Marquee only doing home spring training games was pretty silly considering it's supposedly the all Cubs network but maybe it was just lingering COVID precautions. They announced today that they're doing every spring game except for 2 that will be on MLBN and two split-squad games, so seems like that was indeed the case. There are 4 times they will simulcast the opposing team's feed for road games but they will be on site for most of them.

Can they please release their in market streaming option ASAP so I don't have to subscribe to FuboTV for one horsefeathering network? Last year I at least needed it for Better Call Saul as well.

And here we are set to embark on yet another season of me not watching the Chicago Cubs play baseball.

I think this is the year I’m back. I haven’t subscribed to anything that helped me watch games in two years. I’ve been in a doctoral program that finishes up in May, and they’ve just been uninteresting. Even the games I could watch were against the pirates with pirates broadcasters. Brutal. But maybe I’ll have more time, and maybe they’ll be watchable. We’ll see.

Some interesting story lines anyway. Bellinger will never be an mvp caliber player again, but what if he returns to a 110 ops+? What if Nico takes another step forward? Will the young pitching really be a strength? Will one of Wisdom, Morel, or Madrigal take the job at third? Is David Bote still alive and who killed him? Their hope, mystery, and intrigue. Or meh.

Hey, I'm willing to subscribe to something...MLB.tv...a Marquee streaming service. But what I'm not willing to do is pay a bunch of money for a live tv streaming service. I'm over paying for my tv in big groups of channels I don't watch. And since the Cubs are blacked out for me on MLB.tv (unless that's changed) and Marquee doesn't offer a streaming service that I can pay for, I'm out of luck.

If you’re in market do you not get Marquee through your cable (whatever provider it may be)? Also with my experience you should be able to stream Marquee if they have an app in market for games if you have it through your provider. I’m in Wisconsin and get the Brewers Bally’s channel through my cable and I can stream on their app on my phone when I’m not home to watch games (especially when they play the cubs and MLB TV is blacked out for me).

You can't use your provider if you ain't got one.

What provider in the Cubs/Chicago market doesn’t have Marquee?

I think he's just saying he doesn't have cable.

Also youtube tv, hulu, sling, dish network…

Bingo. Maybe I just need a faster internet connection/operating system, but the idea of having to switch entire apps every time the game goes to a commercial break (and back) is just a complete deal breaker for the current half-baked version of this team. Especially if I'm going to be a minute+ late on streaming anyways, I'll just stick to what I have and wait for the big highlights to pop up on Twitter (yes, another wonderful ownership structure, but at least it's free).

What do you mean switch apps in commercial break?

Be a normal person and scroll through another device when it’s commercial.

I posted this “discount” last year around this time for those outside the Cubs television viewing areas.

The MLB Players Alumni Association offers a 50% discount on the MLB package for members. I re-upped my membership for $25. I’ll get an email link sent with the 50% discount. So the $150 package ends up costing $100. And now, with MiLB included, it’s a great deal. I did it last year and enjoyed watching a lot of games.

I don't know if you have some sort of hack and were able to do it anyway, but that discount is no more. The MLBPAA site does not list it among the benefits of your membership.

Yeah, but honestly, sometimes that's just more hassle than it's worth. Especially if I wanna watch it on an actual tv.

I lost track of this thread and didn't realize so much discussion had come from my comment lol.

I don't have cable/dish or a live tv service.

Seriously, it's really simple so long as you've got an HDMI cable to spare. Let me know if you want to try it during the season.

Nice catch. I guess it does still work!

The last couple years when I’ve watched games (which is very rarely), I’ve used my in-laws Mediacom credentials to log in to the marquee app on a fire stick. It doesn’t seem to be working so far this year. Anyone else running into a similar issue? I wonder if they are cracking down on password sharing or something.
