We all want to win every game, but taking two of three on the road against the Cardinals in which they had their top three starters going, that is really solid and something to be satisfied with.

Yeah I’m perfectly fine taking a series win. Just pissed that this game was in reach to win and fucked up by stupid decisions. Bullpen usage, Rizzo’s base running, etc.

If I had to guess averaging 2 runs a game in losses measures up pretty well vs the rest of the league. I don’t get what Espn was getting at there.

No horsefeathers. If we were losing a bunch of games when scoring a lot of runs, that would be even a bigger issue.

They have one guy in the lineup that can beat you and that's Ozuna. Bass could have pitched this upcoming inning while not facing the only good hitters in their lineup.

Ozuna hit a 40 mph ground ball that the defense botched.

A dumb decision getting a decent result doesn’t make the decision any less dumb

We’ve essentially gone from ‘literally anyone but Bass is defensible’ to ‘Bass pitched as well as we could have expected Strop/Cishek to pitch but I’m mad that he was the guy anyway’. I wouldn’t have been angry with Strop or Cishek there but the variables working against it don’t make me think it’s black and white. Yelling about which reliever gets the first out in the 6th inning of a regular season game is basically never going to be a binary good/bad decision.

Kyle "The Cannon" Schwarber

He's better suited for the American League - every dumb horsefeathers announcer around

HE's safe. horsefeathers Bader

If Bass was the choice that inning if Q got in trouble just let Bass start the inning then. At least give the horsefeathers ass pitcher some margin for error. Don’t make him pitch out of horsefeathers.

Yes im sure Farrell(the other RH outside the late inning circle of trust) would’ve been greeted with cheers.

Someone from the “late inning circle of trust” should have been used with two on, no out in the 6th inning if 0-0 game. That’s the problem.

They need to get at least 3 more innings from the pen tonight and they play 14 consecutive days afterwards. If there’s a time to use someone like Farrell/Bass it’s in a situation against a slew of non-elite RH bats like that. Bass gave up 2 routine ground balls, a line drive, and a K, would you really expect Cishek to do that much better than that?

I don’t know if Ozuna is “elite,” but he’s their best hitter and if you’re saving your good pitchers for “elite” opposing batters I guess you won’t use any good relievers against the cardinals.

and if you want to give bass credit for inducing an Ozuna routine grounder that found a hole, I guess you have to hold the Molina DP against him cuz it was smoked.

The Cubs have this really bad habit of running through 1B and staying inside the base path. Some ump is going to call an out at some point if another team catches on.
