Chacin doesn't blow. He's just decidedly average

We are really breaking this down.

I’ll try again.

The Cubs go though pretty decent stretches where they are being shutdown by (fill in the blank) average starting pitchers.

The Cubs have too many good players and I expect no stretches like that because they are awesome.

Then you don't really understand how baseball works, and you're going to generally not enjoy watching it.

I’m convinced it’s worse this year.

I certainly didn’t enjoy watching the past two crapfests

horsefeathers this team. I’m not watching tomorrow.

I'd assume most of us aren't, because it's an off day. But excited to see you the next time they're losing!

That’s the joke.

Also I probably post in here way more when they are winning so try again.

Contreras has been a massive disappointment this season.

Third in WAR for catchers this year Contreras? The guy with a higher wRC than last year? That Contreras?

Again, I can't remember who it was but I remember reading something a few weeks ago that it is worse, in fact it was approaching a historically high variance between their hot and cold streaks.

I tend not to get too worried about how things look in June, and I'm really not all that worried that much overall, but that particular thing does concern me a bit.

My bad....got caught up with everyone else. Sorry about that. Also...hopefully congrats on the new son, either already or in the next few days.

Even if it's true, I don't really know that I'd agree with it being 'concerning'. Over 162 games, even if they (continue) play(ing) super hot/cold...it should balance out enough for our true talent level to win us the division. Once October starts, isn't it usually a matter of what team gets hot?

If you happen to come across it, post it. I’d be intrigued to see the data. It sure does seem crazy this year just following on a daily basis.

Tied in the loss column baby. Which means it’s all good.

There is, granted, a ton of time between now and October, but the playoffs are ideally 3-plus weeks long and it would not bode well for us to win if the wacky up-and-down play were going on then.

That’s kind of what we did in the World Series though

14-6 in the last 3 weeks. I know outside of one inning it was a pretty unenjoyable series, but we were pretty 'hot' for the 19 games before that.

And that year’s NLCS.

Jesus Christ the freak outs are ridiculous. This team is really good. They are going to win 95-100+ games and the division with relative ease.

Kind of like Baendon (spelling) doesn’t like people always talking about Javy’s strikeouts, we always think this is an overreaction to a perceived overreaction.

No matter how many times we all acknowledge we have the best team in the NL, we aren’t allowed to just discuss the boring ball over long stretches and whether it’s even more unusual than in the past.

R Mack ain’t here. Nobody is going crazy. Just discussing an aspect of our team in a sport that is played every day for six months.

I suppose we all could just say we are awesome and nobody post again till October, but damn, that’s no fun.
