Brewers are in on Schoop and perhaps Gausman. I imagine one of Corbin Burnes or Keston Hiura has to be involved and I couldn't be happier.

my cousin got Schoop’s dinger ball last night and then celebrated like a goober. that is the end of my cool story

Any realistic upgrades left on the reliever market now?

Britton, arguably, wasn’t even a top 5 option. So yes. Conley, Yates, Pressly, Soria, Barraclough, Steckenrider, Lugo to name a few.

I said realistic because most of those guys haven’t really been mentioned in too many trade rumors. In particular, the asking price on Marlins guys has been reported to be extremely high.

And hard no on Soria for me.

ok, so there are tweets out there saying that teams are seemingly willing to meet the marlins' asking price for Barraclough. if this is a realistic possibility, i'm all for it. i'm guessing getting him and Conley together is out of the realm of possibility, but having two relievers like those guys controlled through 2022 would be quite nice. Conley, in particular, fills an offseason need with Wilson a FA and Monty a possible starter/trade bait.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... is there anything in Brach's profile right now to suggest he's still capable of being the guy he was 2-3 years ago vs the guy he is now? Cause he kinda looks like he sucks right now. I noticed his BABIP against is absurdly high (.371), but his velocity is also down on all of his pitches.

He's back to averaging 95 on his fastball here in July, though he's pitched terribly this month so it clearly hasn't helped much yet. I'd buy that he's been a little unlucky and is still a quality 7th inning guy, but I'd like to aim a little higher for our reliever acquisition since we skimped on the rotation. I'd love Will Smith from the Giants or one of the Nationals guys.

Geez, it appears we're truly bin hunting. I know our system is shitty, but we've got the ability to add Wheeler and Herrera as well. I want Theo to be scorched earth, but I don't think he is.

I agree that the system is shitty from a positional player perspective - since most are in the ML roster currently. But - from a pitching standpoint, the cupboard is bare in terms of pitchers knocking on the door. There’s not many that have been produced either.

Luis Ayala (who I am not sure is a real person) was also pulled

This feels like a Ziegler level deal. Not getting the other marlins guys for this kinda package, you’d think.

Yeah these are definitely guys that only get you a Ziegler type dude, I wish we’d aim higher but Ziegler says he’s made a mechanical change and has only allowed 2 runs in his last ~25 innings and also has a ~75% GB rate which will play up with our defense.

I really like Ziegler, but I think our pen needs a little help getting out tough lefties, which he does not help at all. Grab Ziegler AND find a LOOGY to take Rosario's spot in the pen and I'll be fairly happy.

I kinda want a lefty too but a lot of the righties we have are plenty good vs LHB and we’ll also have Monty in the pen in the playoffs to go with Wilson and maybe Hamels as lefty options.
