Al Hrabosky wants the Cardinals reliever to throw the ball at the home plate umpire.

What happened with the ump?

He called timeout in the middle of a play that ended as a double play, but since he called it dead the second out didn’t count.

But the reason he said that was Cain took a pitch in the zone that should have been called strike 3 but wasn’t. Then he singled. Later in the inning the hitter called for time late and it was granted. Hrabsoky said that’s where you just throw it and if it hits the umpire so be it.

I'd prefer the Brewers lose, of course, but as long as it hurts the Cards, I'll work my way through the grief.

I'm unwell in terms of my feelings towards the Cards. I try to let it go since the Cubs are sustainably good now, but it bubbles to the surface sometimes.

I mean, STL is technically still pursuing us too. While catching us is unlikely, them losing doesn't hurt either.

We would most likely like St Louis to win the series. Not confident the Tigers win a game in Milwaukee.

It's funny how on GRB they're bemoaning having to come to Wrigley and playing the Cubs because the Cubs have so much on the line....meanwhile a bunch of us here are worrying about playing a desperate Cardinals team for the final series.

ALL FEAR, ALL THE TIME.

With the way we are playing, I'd fear the horsefeathering Marlins coming to town.

The Pirates are probably playing the best baseball in the NL now. The brewers avoided Taillon, won a stupid rain delay game they were going to lose and got a scrub that replaced Musgrove that we miss. On top of it, Milwaukee got Gomber and Gant. One of which would most likely start their wildcard game if they make it.

With the caveat that I don’t expect the Cards to roll over for us if they’re eliminated, the Dodgers hurt us today.

If they had won, they’d be 2 up on St Louis instead of 1. If the Rockies win tomorrow, they’ll be 2 up on St Louis. Which means the earliest the Cards can be eliminated is Saturday. If we beat them on Friday and the Dodgers win, they’ll be 2 back with 2 to play and we play before the Dodgers play on Saturday.

Would have been nice to bounce St Louis Friday in the hopes that they’ll be a little off on Sat and Sun.

It’s honestly absurd how the Cardinals and the Dodgers both choking down the stretch, something that would have caused me infinite joy pretty much every other year, is somehow hurting the cubs.
