The best thing in the rant was the reference to the obscure baseball player from the turn of the last century.

That's a "we got nothing to lose" play right there

It's just a good send, if he's out it's still runners on 1st and 3rd with only 1 out.

Brewers considering a full teardown?

Quote

Executives at this time of year are always careful to tell reporters they are fielding calls on their players rather than shopping them. In that sense, the Brewers would say they are acting no differently than any club. But industry sources tell a different story.

Those sources, briefed on the Brewers’ discussions but not authorized to discuss them publicly, say the team is open to moving virtually any player on its roster. The process effectively has begun, with the Brewers sending outfielder Mark Canha to the Detroit Tigers for a pitching prospect. A continued teardown, considering the Brewers’ current position, would not be without logic. It might even be the proper course.

It's still very early but Arenado is starting to look pretty cooked.  In zone contact rate way down, exit velocity way down, groundball rate way up.  Just 40 plate appearances so I'm not dancing on his grave yet but does not look great.

Reds keep batting Elly 6th with guys hitting sub .200 ahead of him

Yeah there seems to be some real improvement there, which is cool. I guess I can see, given how hot he started and then how hard he crashed last year, that they want to manage expectations and not stir things up. But with their injury problems and theoretical playoff aspirations, might need to press a little.

Elly is on pace for something like 50 HR and 80 SB. There's no reason to bury him in the lineup
