I think the Eagles fan base may be the only force on the planet powerful enough to make me lean toward the Patriots

The best case scenario is that Brady gets Thiesmaned but the Pats still win. Or he escapes unscathed and then he and Belicheck beat each other to death. Or retire. I'm good either way.

I watch Jeopardy each day and it never ceases to amaze me how incredibly smart people can know absolutely nothing about a topic (sports) on which so many people have at least a passing knowledge. This category is an extreme example, but something like this happens probably about a third of the time they have a sports category. (For instance, someone once responded to a question like "Hack Wilson holds the single-season baseball record in this category with 191" with "home runs", and another time someone guessed "Magic Johnson" to a question about hockey assists.)

Like, I'm a simpleton by the standard of any Jeopardy contestant and I'm still able to come up with answers to most of the easier questions on the topics like opera, plays, physics, or whatever, in which my knowledge base is, shall we say, limited.

eh, they are WAY smarter than me about lots and lots of things (to be fair that's really not that hard but whatever). Yeah, it's kind of crazy they didn't know at least some of them but I wouldn't know anything along those lines w/ hockey or soccer either tbh. i just choose not to watch those sports (not hating on them just a personal preference).

I got all those questions right but I don’t see how you would have if you don’t watch football at all. None of those answers really leak into the mainstream at all

If I was ever on Jeopardy, there would be a zero percent chance I'd see that category on the board. I'd be there the day when all the questions are about Rivers of Asia or 17th Century French Literature

I thought I read where they sort of design the categories around the strengths of the contestants in order to make them look smarter. IIRC, there was talk of "dumbing down" Jeopardy a few years ago and that was part of it.

I caught a snippet of ESPN radio yesterday where a voter was saying "I'll vote for Moss next year, but not this year. I don't think he's a 'first ballot' guy"

horsefeathers off, idiot. A player is either a Hall of Famer or he isn't. Take your first ballot and cram it, jagoff

I’d feel better about this if Philly hadn’t blown 2nd and goal from the 2. Of course, after last year, I won’t feel good until the game is actually over and Philly’s actually won.
