Tomorrow is the rule V. Anyone interesting? We’ve talked about Burdi, an easy injury stash with an arm. RHP Jose Almonte from the D’Backs and LHP Jordan Guerrero from the White Sox seem interesting but not sure this is the roster for them. Twins RH Jake Reed might have a shot as a sinkerballer.

Don't really care if they don't trade up for Burdi, though Cale Coshow seems interesting too.

It’s also the Rule 5 draft tomorrow

Wonder what the heck is going on with Cobb. Signing him and using some of the trade pieces to get Yelich might be my favorite route at the moment. Their ownership and FO might not give a damn about the perception, but getting Happ as the lead piece, as opposed to an all-prospect return, and being able to point out they got a guy who hit 24 dongs in his rookie season could maybe help them save face a little bit.

I have some reservations about "locking" into that rotation for 3+ years, but trading for good starters without a ton of red flags is hard, man. There's no point for the Orioles to move Gausman for someone like Happ, and I'm sure Theo's talked to the Rays' FO a million times over the past year, and there's been very little Archer noise. I'm good with just signing a pitcher for the last rotation spot and having Theo take advantage of the Marlins' ineptitude.

Sears is at it again. Basically parroting Kaplan's tweet that a deal with Cleveland COULD include Kipnis. That was clearly Kap just wondering aloud in the twitterverse.

I'd have to imagine he is pushing for more years or money and the Cubs are content to explore trades and wait for his price to change a little.

GRB seems pretty convinced they are getting some combination of Machado/Donaldson/Longoria/Archer/Colome/Britton

They're also convinced they're winning the next 18 World Series and our win never happened so

Really impressed with Eppler''s winter for the Angels so far. They didn't give up much to get Ian Kinsler, keeping their high upside guys. Headley isn't what he was (assuming they get him) ... but he might be a really good fit in Anaheim, offering defense and OBP. Heck, if I'm Scioscia, I go Headley/Kinsler/Trout/Upton/Ohtani (when hitting). At the end of the day, the most important thing is Ohtani panning out as a pitcher. If he does, they look very good.

And they do all this without really denting their developing farm.

Trade makes them better for next year, getting Colome knocks them out on Wade most likely.... Longoria is owed $86 million through 2022 ($94 if they pick up the 2023 option) and he's already in his age 32 season coming up. He’s more name than actually good anymore. Still solid but not a superstar.

Wow, that'd be ... stunning. Wonder what the cost would be. With the Rays propensity to target younger guys/upside guys when appropriate, I'm wondering if Delvin Perez or Edmundo Sosa are in play. It's possible that the package is some combination of arms and OF, though, as Tyler O'Neill might make a ton of sense.

I think, if they make this move, the biggest thing in all this would be that Chris Archer is probably very much in play. With the rumors of the Nationals and Yankees checking in, along with the Cubs, the Rays should get a nice bidding war going if they wanted to move him.

Last year Longoria was about as productive with the bat as Grichuk, and they got upwards of 5 wins from Gyorko + Wong at 2B/3B. I get that Wong isn't the picture of stability, but I'm still a bit confused that Longoria would be a priority.

Yeah, while Longo would be a defensive upgrade, he'd likely be a lateral move offensively.

Longoria seems like a prime candidate to catch some Cardinals pixie dust, that seems like a pretty good deal for them.
