Additionally Kershaw pitched 8 days ago. Weren’t his numbers pretty bad on extended rest and better on short rest? Can someone look at this?

Kershaw Career Rest stats

So no it doesn't look like they're bad with more rest.

Ron Darling probably mentioned it last year. Wishful thinking.

If MLB let's them do this after their DL shenanigans all season long, I will be angry.

Yeah that’s BS. Especially if it’s for like Alex Wood after Game 4 or a bullpen guy the use a lot in first 2-3 games.

Game 4 will be their final game this year, anyway.

Why s it BS. It's within the rules, right? I'd imagine the Cubs would do something similar if the situation arises.

The rules assume you aren't embellishing injuries to play with a roster that's functionally more than 25. MLB already warned the Dodgers about their use of the 10 day DL for this purpose, but most of the time it wasn't too egregious because there were optioning games they could have done to achieve the same result. That's not true of the playoffs, so if they try to do the same thing to get their star player a few days of recovery without playing with a 24 man roster, MLB needs to say no.

Aren’t the postseason DL rules stricter to avoid this nonsense?

Yes, anyone who gets put on the DL would be ineligible for the world series. Of course it's not difficult to imagine that being a worthwhile tradeoff if you're trailing in a series and you can just start McCarthy instead of Wood later, or not worry about bringing back Charlie Culbertson or whatever.

Cracks me up that our entire slate of position players (other than Zobrist) is under control until 2022. Everybody. That's nuts.

Just get Otani and another SP this year. Sign Harper after 2018 and make Heyward a part time player. Restock the pen each year. That's really it for the next five freaking years.

Hopefully they work out some extensions during that time as well. Don't want to go into that offseason with your entire lineup heading into free agency lol.

Love that the Dodgers so brazenly skirt the rules that even the beat writers know how they'll try to cheat.

Love the lineup

Same. I had a dream last night that when Kershaw left the game it was 6-1 Cubs after Schwarber hit a donger. I never dream about baseball so I'm taking this as prophecy.

I probably would have preferred Happ over Schwarber. I know Kershaw has been better against right-handed hitters this year, but greater emphasis should be put on his career line in which he has been slightly tougher on left-handed batters, and Schwarber himself has been bad against lefties: .159/.270/.312 in 159 PA.

But other than that I love the lineup and I hope Schwarber proves me wrong.
