Q for Game 1. Plan for Lackey for Game 2. If you lose Game 1, you can still go to Lester if you want to take that chance. Delay that decision for as long as possible, though.

The problem with using Lackey in game 2 is it either forces you to skip a starter or not use a starter until a game 5 that may not happen, or use Lackey in two games.

OTOH, in the scenario where game 5 may not happen you have two fully rested SP in game 4 ready to unload.

"Lester's feeling a little under the weather...so the plan is to use Lackey"

I don't think you need to be in a rush to start Jake tbh. He can come out of the pen if Lackey starts.

wait, what? Use Lackey in 2 game? How?

Huh, both Kershaw and Hill have pretty extreme reverse splits this year. Lefties had a .374 wOBA against Hill. Very interesting lineup decisions for Joe. I wasn't expecting Schwarber to have much of an impact this series, but now I'm not so sure. Have to think there will still be a lot of Jon Jay.

Yeah, the only way you use Lackey twice is if rain pushes Game 3 back a day.

I went to New York in '15 for Game 1. I'm really contemplating buying tickets to game 6 this series. Got a great feeling about it...

So Dave Roberts is a good tactician now?

Only a good tactician can win games with a team with 2 5+ WAR, 2 4+ WAR and 4 1.5+ WAR position players, along with 15 starting pitching options, including one of the GOAT SP and one of the best closers in baseball.

If there was one thing I thought last year during the NLCS while watching every Dodger dance around at first base without going anywhere it was that Dave Roberts was a brilliant tactician.
