the real question is - do i set the DVR to record the CSN post game of the celebration or not? i did yesterday, in part because i forgot to last year. :?

(I'm not watching from home)

or...OR, I could just call someone and have them DVR it for me if/when we win

I can't decide what to do tonight. A) watch at home on DVR from the beginning, B) watch at home from wherever it's at (I work late today til 7)or C) go to Wymans (Chicago bar).

Help me nsbb.

giphy.webp

All of the GIPHY links you're using have a .webp suffix and they're not working.

Weird...they work fine for me....but they don't if I just put the giphy link like usual....does this work?

It never occurred to me that Maddon would keep Zobrist out of the lineup, so that is surprising. It'd be kinda cool to see the offense make an appearance.

Good luck with your decision.

I've never been one that can watch a game from one of my teams at a bar. Just doesn't work for me.

I'll be in my basement tonight. My son will hang in for a bit with me, but I'll usually watch the majority of it alone. I much prefer that to a bar.

Same here, I avoid bars at all costs when my teams are in the playoffs

Can't believe they did this.... Zobrist is 3rd on the team in BA this series, 5th in OPS and is tied for the team lead in XBH.

(3rd on the team is .200 BA, 5th in OPS is .533, team lead in XBH is 2)

His hits have all come batting left-handed though, and he's been near pitcher level territory batting right-handed this year (.179/.261/.292). Some have speculated his wrist injury comes into play when batting right-handed. As others have said, once Gio is out, he'll probably get in the game somehow.

Watched game 7 there last year - one of the greatest experiences but this is different obv.

I'm just thinking about double-elimination games and Cubs' history. In most people's lifetimes, they've had six and are 4-2. That's not bad.

Obviously 2016 WS is the best and 2003 and 1984 NLCS are tied for worst. In between, I'd probably rank them 1998 WC tiebreaker, 2015 WC game, 2003 NLDS.

I'll be at the same bar I watched most of last year's playoffs at, including games 6 and 7, and game 1 this year.

I'll be in Carmel, Indiana, which combines all the worst parts of suburban bars (really dumb middle aged sports 'fans' pretending to care about the game) with all the worst parts of Indiana (the 22 year old in the Cubs hat last night who was doing everything he could to not drop a hard N on Edwards last night, screamed the series was over after the Grand Slam, and then left without leaving any tip).

Should be great.

I’ll be at a bar in Wisconsin. I go every Thursday in the Fall (once football starts) with my dad and brother. It’s in Kohler so it gets after work corporate types/clients, tourists (usually from Chicago) for the golf/resort and then locals. Have some memorable Cubs wins there, hoping to add to the list. Can’t have that talk. It’s a waste of time to look at lineup, pitching matchups, weather, bullpen decisions, etc.

This game is going to come down to which fans have more faith.

I'm assuming this is sarcasm.

Faith doesn't win baseball games. Talent and execution does.

Go Cubs!

I'm not even nervous. Pre-last year my day would be ruined but I've barely thought of this game today. I think nerves will hit when the game starts but it's nice to not have this control me anymore.

If Joe uses Q out of the bullpen tonight and we win, who starts Game 1 of the NLCS? Lackey?

Don't use Q. Hendricks and Montgomery(and I guess Lackey) can get you 6 innings.

I'd be stunned, STUNNED, if Hendricks runs into some early trouble and Joe doesn't panic and go to Quintana if the game is still relatively close.

This is Maddon's weak link, IMO. I think it's something the team sees too. Maddon talks a lot about trust. Living up to the challenge. Etc. etc. But he contradicts himself when he panics and denies trust with those players who got them there in the first place.

I like Maddon, but he seems to be "less good" of a manager in the post season than the regular season. I trust Hendricks. I hope Joe does as well.

Go Cubs.
