Why the horsefeathers would you have Strasburg doing a bullpen session the day of a possible elimination game?!?

My god Dusty you glorious bastard never change

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all, Dusty outDustys himself. Holding off Strasburg’s most important start of his career because of bad A/C and mold when you could go Strasburg game 4 and Gio Game 5 with Scherzer out of the pen if needed. Mike Rizzo has to get involved. Without a doubt if the Nats lose tomorrow, fireable offence.

There's no way Strasburg threw a side-session today with the weather forecast the way it was. The Nationals have to be bluffing.

Get involved how? Strasburg already threw his bullpen session today.

Assuming they do start Roark tomorrow...

What Dusty should do is be very aggressive with his bullpen. Roark shaky early? Get him out. Pitchers spot comes up in a big spot in the 5th, bring in a pinch hitter. Big spot for the Cubs in the 4th or 5th? Bring in one of Madsen/Doolittle/Kintzler. Extend those three if necessary. Do what you have to because you've got two rested starters available for Game 5 plus Scherzer if needed.

Of course it's Dusty so what the Cubs will get a couple off Roark, a big spot will come up in the 5th, Dusty will either stick with Roark or go to his normal middle relief and the Cubs will blow it open.

He'll let Roark hit for himself and then pull him. Defends it saying he didn't want to run out of position players

And bring in Strasburg out of the pen to relieve him and his arm falls off

Why would he throw a bullpen? Healthy enough to do that, but not start tomorrow?

This Dusty press conference is hilarious. He is already building the mountain of excuses.

Apparently. Brian Kenney was flabbergasted.

Nats beat reporter Jamal Collier tweeted the Nationals say Dusty misspoke and Strasburg threw a bullpen yesterday, but he’s under the weather and his endurance is down.

Still dumb. Strasburg has to be riduculously sick or this is mind bogglingly dumb.

Actually I've been thinking about it, and I think that Dusty really is dumb enough to start Roark tomorrow if the game gets rained out. Potential reasons:

1) "I don't want to throw anyone off their rhythm and make Stras pitch a day early."

2) "Roark is our guy. He's won some big games for us. We need him in there to get us to a Game 5"

3) "In Game 5 you've gotta roll with your biggest horses. We need Big Stras [just assuming that's what Dusty calls him] in there."

The quotes are in jest (sort of) but I could totally see that logic from Dusty.

But yeah, I've lost about 155 pounds over the last 18 months. Just need to ride this out until Xmas and I should be at 175 (so I'll have essentially lost an entire me, which seems bonkers) and I can start finally eating some real food again.

Congrats, Sofa. That is impressive.

Im not justifying it and I’m glad row-ark is staring. But they have to win both games anyways. So going row-ark then strasburg rather than Strasburg then Gio isn’t a huge drop off when Roark has been recently good, is fresh, and the Cubs have seen Gio a couple days ago. Especially if strasburg is sick.

Tomorrow very well may be the last game Dusty ever manages.

For The Nationals, maybe.

Then some other idiot GM will sign him to a four year deal and we will see all this for a fifth team
