10/11 - NLDS Game 4 - Dusty's Gone Fishin' (A sickly Dickensian orphan) @ Corbs (The Bearded Bastard) 3:08 CST - TBS

Getting Jayson Werth more at-bats at the expense of Anthony Rendon seems...curious.

I thought for sure I was going to see Werth having a great line against Arrieta in his career but nope, he's 2-9 with a HR, 4 RBI and a walk.

Actually I've been thinking about it, and I think that Dusty really is dumb enough to start Roark tomorrow if the game gets rained out. Potential reasons:

1) "I don't want to throw anyone off their rhythm and make Stras pitch a day early."

2) "Roark is our guy. He's won some big games for us. We need him in there to get us to a Game 5"

3) "In Game 5 you've gotta roll with your biggest horses. We need Big Stras [just assuming that's what Dusty calls him] in there."

The quotes are in jest (sort of) but I could totally see that logic from Dusty.

I thought Dusty Baker managed the Nationals.

I dunno, I think all managers at this point have some blind spots/loyalties.

Yeah I was thinking about this too and think this is a probable thing.

so would we throw hendricks out there if game 4 is tomorrow?

In more normal circumstances I would say yes, but given that our 4 starters are as interchangable as any playoff rotation I can remember, I'd stay the course and use the day to make Lester a multi-inning weapon in Game 4/5 if needed.

I like that. Quintana lines up for game 1 of the NLCS on normal rest, let Joe figure out the best way to use the other three to get one win in the next two games.

Really hope they find a way to get this in...already pushed back a business trip one day to go tonight, don't think I'll be able to go tomorrow, which means I'm stuck watching game 4 and 5 in the Indy suburbs somewhere.

I literally had all of these exact same thoughts about 30 seconds ago.

There it is

He’s gonna start Roark and then bring Strasburg in out of the bullpen, isn’t he? Lol

What are the rules for suspending a game and picking it up tomorrow vs just canceling a game in a scenario where we only go 3-4 innings tonight?

I believe all postseason games are suspended no matter what. Nothing is ever erased.

Yeah, in 2008 they changed the rule so all playoff games are played to completion. But they won't start this game unless they believe they can finish it.

Oh yeah I know they have to finish a game, they just can’t call it after 5 and that’s it if a team has the lead. But they just suspend a game if they start it and they can’t finish and play the next day from that point if they only get a few innings in, right?

Correct. It's not like the regular season where if you get rained out after three, everything is erased. It all counts.

Should’ve just started this horsefeathering thing at noon or so.

Rumor has it TBS said no to this proposal.

And hey its in their best interest for Strasburg to pitch Game 4, increasing the chances of G5
