There are some rumblings about EE signing with Houston which would most likely lead them to move a Bregman+ package to the White Sox for either Sale or Quintana.

That's pretty damn savvy, honestly.

Apparently there are rumblings the Pirates have liked offers they've received for McCutchen and a trade seems likelier now. My Pirates-fan friends are pissed.

I mean, I get it. Trading the face of the franchise isnt fun. But 2017 Cutch isnt close to 2015 Cutch anymore, and their OF will be just fine with Meadows, Marte, Polanco. My Pirate fan friends understand that and are ready to move on.

How patient do we think the Yankees will be with all of the prospects they've landed over last year? I'd be OK with Cutch out of the NL Central but it would kind of suck seeing Torres in it facing us for 7 years or so..

I'd prefer to see the Yankees blow their wad on McCutchen than say Trout if/when he becomes available in a trade

A's get Matt Joyce for 2 years and $11 million. Didn't even notice how nice of a season he had at the plate. In 293 part time PA's he hit 13 homers and drew 59 walks (a 20% walk rate). His OBP was .403 and his OPS was .866 (with a 131 OPS+). His ISO was .221, the same as Kyle Seager, Adrian Beltre, and better than Jose Bautista, Mookie Betts, Corey Seager, Bryce Harper, and Paul Goldschmidt, just to name some notables. All for $5.5 mil AAV. Very nice value signing for them to pick up (garbage OF'er so probably a DH option)

Nationals apparently pushing for a trade today, then could move Turner to short and non-tender Espinosa before tomorrow's deadline.

Surely Espinosa is tradeable, isn't he?

Espinosa had a 1.122 OPS last June and didn't reach .660 in any other month. That is not what I expected. Going further back, since June of 2015, he has 861 PA with a .293 wOBA.

Also he deserves to be punished for that heinous facial hair nonsense.

McCutchen-Turner-Murphy-Harper top of the order is about as lethal as they come.

This made me curious, here's Steamer's wOBA estimate for those 4: .362, .345, .357, .396. There's a couple that seem pessimistic and a couple that might be optimistic considering the 2016 that McCutchen and Harper had.

For comparison, the current Cubs top 4, Zobrist/Schwarber/Bryant/Rizzo: .343, .367, .374, .391

Ok, so the Braves literally have about 10SP candidates now. Someone has to be on the move.

Edit: Make that 11SP candidates

Teheran,Garcia,Dickey,Colon and

Folty,Wisler,Blair,Gant,Perez,Jenkins,Collmenter all possibilities for the 5th spot

Damn, DBacks let go of Welly. And Rubby, for that matter. I know he's got elbow concerns, but if he's able to pitch in 2017, he'd be a nice flyer to let Bosio work on.

Came here to post this about Rubby. Inexpensive lotto ticket with big upside

Zero interest in Ross here. He's not going to take a multi-year deal, and he can't remotely be counted on to stay healthy(the team that knows most about his arm just released him). The best case scenario is that he holds up for a 3ish win season and then you fight the market to keep him for his age 31+ seasons, which really isn't worth the huge risk. He'd be a prime bullpen conversion if he wasn't so obviously going to get another chance as a SP.
