i might actually sob uncontrollably if it happens which is not something i do frequently at all.

Glad to hear you do not sob uncontrollably on a regular basis.

Ha. Twice since I wasn't a small child.

Smoltz said his prediction for game 7 was extra innings, and my immediate reaction was to want to barf. Noooooooooooo thanks.

Please no. I have a 7th Circuit argument tomorrow morning, and I'm already going to be tired enough.

Too late for a continuance? I bet at least one of the judges would say, "Oh thank God."

I wish, but nope. Really hoping I have at least one judge on the panel who is a big Cubs fan (sure, I'd take a panel full of Cubs fans) and will feel my pain.

It's really cool to be in Chicago though, even with impending work.

horsefeathers...just realized Vanover (the villain of game 1) is also umping tonight...

He'll be on RF duty, not much to screw up there.

Tonight's home plate ump, Sam Holbrook, appears to be the best in this crew: http://www.hardballtimes.com/mlb-umpires-2016-review-world-series-preview/

It's actually been a pretty calm Series for me (thank you whiskey!) but this morning and all day I have been nervous as horsefeathers. My mom would be going nuts tonight if she were still around. Go Cubs.

My anxiety sort of went down once we were down 3-1 and stayed down even last night, but is peaking today!

Exactly my thoughts!

I think I have two memories since I wasn't a small child.

and one of them was having a stroke during game 6 of the 2003 NLCS.

Tonight could be number 3, win or lose. and maybe a second stroke.

The analysts apparently see Hendricks being as much of a non-factor as he was in the NLCS.

The dichotomy between the unshakeable perception that Hendricks is on the verge of complete failure and also that he's a Greg Maddux clone every time he does well is hilarious.

the first memory was seeing naked people.

it's not like Greg Maddux wasn't on the brink of complete failure during the postseason. he's the cautionary tale of why pitchers now cover their mouths with their glove when talking.

the fact is, he has to be absolutely perfect with his speeds and location, with junkballs he's not good at mixed in for variety, for his pitches not to be total BP.

The meatball in me took a long time to get past that. Now I'm completely confident with him on the mound.

my grandfather is the reason I'm such a huge Cubs fan, he's 83 and his mind is gone. he's still alive, but I doubt he even knows the cubs are playing in the world series.

ok, now I'm depressed.

I was going to like this than it took a horrid turn.

When the blackhawks won the cup the first time Jeremy Roenick broke down on TV, which was cool. Since Ernie and Ronnie are gone who would be the coolest Cubs player to see a reaction from should we do this?

Steve Stone is predicting it'll be a slider, low and away.

My grandfather is 87 and nearly died of cancer last year to the point where they were discussing hospice. Somehow he pulled through and is doing well. He told me tonight with emotion in his voice that he is happy he stuck around to see the Cubs in the World Series because the last time they were in it he was in a German work camp and had no idea about the Cubs or baseball. Really hope he gets to see us win

I remember that - "it's the Hawks, man."

I'm not much of a game thread reader/participant during games but I just want to say that when (not if) the Cubs are on the verge of recording the final out of the game tonight, I sincerely hope that literally no one is trying to post right around that time. Put the electronics down and take in what is sure to be an unbelievable moment.
