Joe Buck has been fine.

Smoltz is rather dumb though.

Buck is fine calling game action...I don't like his thoughts as he fills space though.

I've enjoyed Smoltz quite a bit outside of his Lester/running game analysis/obsession.

He's been obsessed with and repeatedly wrong on the running stuff as well as just a whole bunch of other stuff. And he often just says pointless nonsense.

Do you guys know what the deal is with the wrigley bars tonight?

Cover charges still? On one hand, it's a road game...on the other, it's horsefeathering game 7

I thought someone said a page or 2 back that there were $100 covers

The best option if you are on a budget is likely to go to Southport or Lincoln Ave bars for the game. If the Cubs look like they're going to do it you are still a short walk from bedlam.

If it were up to me, which it's not:

Dex CF

Schwarb DH

Rizz 1B

Bryant 3B

Zo 2B

Addi SS

Soler or Cogs LF

J Hey RF

Gramps C

Love you Javy, but the Fun Dip fueled 8 year old flailing madly at a Piñata batting style is less than conducive for game 7 of the World horsefeathering Series.

Er, no thanks. Javy is still a necessity in the field - JayHey too. After seeing Heyward get that drive that could have been a triple or inside the parker last night, I am re-convinced that starting Soler the other day at Wrigley was an awful idea. Heyward would have gotten a read on that ball and arrived in time to make the play.

I know it sounds crazy but I'm glad this game is in Cleveland tonight. The pressure of playing in front of the Wrigley fans in a game 7 would be smothering in my opinion. The Cubs just seem more relaxed on the road this post season overall, at least hitting wise. All the Wrigley fans, who are awesome, can be a bit overwhelming in a pressure packed situation.

Doesn't sound crazy at all. I agree with you.

The Chicago Cubs have won a baseball game 113 times this year.

The Cubs have faced starters on short rest 4 3 times this postseason, let's check in on the results:

Clayton Kershaw, NLCS Game 6: 5.0 IP, 7 H. 5 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 2 HR, (not on short rest, but bears mentioning that it was an ace the second time around and his workload in the postseason may have affected him; thanks Billy_Buck for the correction) Cubs Win, some guy named Hendricks shuts down LA

Corey Kluber, WS Game 4: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 HBP, Cubs Lose 7-2

Trevor Bauer, WS Game 5: 4 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 1 HR, Cubs Win 3-2

Josh Tomlin, WS Game 6: 2.1 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 1 HR, Cubs Win 9-2 to force game 7 against Corey Kluber, who is pitching on short rest against the Cubs for the second time this series.

This time, Kluber faces a lineup, for the third time, that is red-hot and looking to close out the first World Series for the Cubs in 108 years.

Let's do this!

part of me really wants to be in wrigleyville today/tonight

another part of me says horsefeathers those crowds, cover charges, lines, uber/train/whatever, and just watch in a bar in the burbs which will still be crazy fun and much easier

i honestly can't decide

Stay at home. Your wallet will thank you for it.

so weird that an Atlanta paper would write good things about him...

Which is why they added quotes from 9 different sources outside ...he has been fine and I never had got the Buck hate...he seems like a good dude too...Cleveland fans think he is Cubs homer Cubs fans think the opposite these guys are in a no win situation so mute is an option

Man I didnt sleep for crap last night...at least being on the west coast the game starts at 5..Have to get ahead early or by inning 5 it may be lights out...If we do get beat please do not let it be by some error or by shutout ....last thing I want is some documentary in 5 years about some fluke play...we killed a curse and released Bartman from purgatory this year lets finally end this thing on a good note and win

I would like the Cubs to win tonight and have Bartman throw the first pitch Opening Day at Wrigley next season.

With a ball that would have been sprinkled in holy water, though.

holy water? no, goat blood

Don't listen to him/her. Your memories and life experience will remember being around everyone if we win, and you won't remember this 100$ or 200$ in 20 years. Hell you probably won't remember it by next year.

This is the right call. Paying $100 to stand and watch the game in a packed "Club Corn" sounds absolutely miserable.

Yesterday I was prepared to say goodbye to this team if things didn't go the right way

Today I'm sad that no matter what this is the last baseball game for like 6 months and its starting to hit me.

Cub baseball in No-freaking-vember!!!! I still can't believe it! Let's do this every year!

we've already had a "larry himes is kinda responsible for this" story

I cant imagine going to a bar on a work night as it is add in being surrounded by drunks no thanks...my biggest issue was buying enough chew toys to keep my dog occupied because he was climbing all over me last night and that will not do tonight

Kershaw wasn't short rest. He pitched game 2 on Sunday, then game 6 on Saturday; 5 days rest. There was speculation about having him go game 5 on short rest (would've been 3 days). Still, IMO the more important thing is that beating him on a second go-round is a positive outcome the Cubs hitters can draw on.

At least one prominent source also cited Kershaw as short rest, might've been the Fox guys last night?

I don't get the Smoltz bashing. He's the best color analyst Fox has put there in as long as I can recall. Does he have his "duh" moments ? Yes, he does. But, I think he's made Joe Buck sound better rather than the insufferable days with Tim McCarver. For not being at this gig for a long period of time, he's done fine. I'll take him over many of the national broadcast alternatives we've seen over the years.

Speaking of insufferable, the Rose / Thomas combination on the left side of the pre-post game desk is really where the bashing should go. They are awful.

Well I didn't know they had sources. I stand corrected.
