Dude was safe at third. We couldn't hit. Period. You can win if you can't score.

I wasn't mad about it at the time, and I'm not now. The only thing that vexed me tonight was the unwillingness of some of our guys to take balls.

Javy pretty much carried the offense for a stretch against the Dodgers. Now that Javy is mortal again and Schwarber can only pinch hit, Zobrist is our only regular lineup hitter who is swinging a hot bat. We desperately need Bryant, Rizzo, Fowler or someone to get hot. I don't like feeling dread when Kris Bryant is coming up to bat. Edited by Elrhino

One more thing before I drown my sorrows in calories, this is the same thing that happened in the NLCS, the Cubs dropped a home game and people were sad and didn't notice that the opposing team wasn't hitting at all. Throwing on 3 days rest(and then again after that, but let's cross that bridge if necessary) is not going to be the same guy, get Kluber for a couple runs and bring things back to equilibrium.

I appreciate that thought but Cleveland had 11 baserunners in the game. Maybe ding them for being unable to plate more runs but I think they overall hit well and chased a really good pitcher who I thought has a good game plan against them out before 5 innings. The Dodgers in game 2 did look rather bad at the plate overall.

No extra base hits and half their singles were seeing-eye or bloopers. One run was a very deserved result.

There is no real rule on check swings, but as far as Baez went is usually a strike.

I agree, it was close enough to call a swing, and certainly not egregious.

Still, in a WS game, go to the first base ump is there's even a hint of doubt.

you absolutely have to get a 2nd opinion there, and I wouldn't have been upset had the 1st base ump said he went too. but the guy who's watching the ball and not the bat shouldn't be calling that

Yep, I thought he probably went, but there's no way in hell the plate ump should make that call.

nobody thinks there's a curse, you lunatic. things are easily not in favor of the Cubs at present moment, and being realistic about this isn't fatalistic.

Lunatic? Why, cuz I used a large font? Fatalistic when the other team has to win at least two more games? Give me a break. You're the one calling the series after 3 games.

Calm down, psycho.

really? OK I'm a psycho because I can do math and I know that the team that we all love and desperately want to win the WS isn't out of out it after 3 games. Not the guy who says "Series Over" because we're down 2-1 in a series after losing a 1-0 nothing game.

Cubs are 8-1 in the playoffs when they score a run.

Cubs are 0-4 in the playoffs when they don't score.

And that's rationality. I look forward to scoring runs tomorrow and winning this thing.

After seeing what this Indians team is all about, I feel that we can beat them where Boston and Toronto couldn't: with defense. Am I completely wrong in thinking that had Heyward been in RF in the 7th that this game could still be going on?

Dong'a are great and all, but if the Indians aren't going to give up a lot of runs, we need to take away theirs. Time to take Heyward off punishment. Time to see what AA can really do with the glove work.

Are you sure it wasn't gas?

Kluber has a 7.71 ERA when he's on short rest. Elite starters see a significant fall off on short rest 2 of the next 4 games are against non elite starters. We are good. Have a drink and relax fellas

Yep. Heyward in RF tomorrow.

Hey, everybody who's freaking out, go watch the horsefeathering hype video and believe. This is happening whether you're on board or not.

The Cubs now find themselves in the rare and unenviable position of actually wanting to go

Back to Cleveland. The going rate for that is getting to run an NBA franchise.

That and we've now seen 88 more pitches from him than we had prior.

Alas I think the winner of tomorrow game wins the series. If we win tomorrow its a best of 3 with our three stud starters going.

Eh I got a gut feelin we are coming back down 3-1 to win it. It won't be fun til the end but itll be epic.

This series is over. Lets pray we ever get back in this spot again

Oh for FFS. Stop with the self-absorbed whining. We all think this game blew, of course. But the series is only over after one of two teams wins four times. There's a lot of baseball left. I'm so sick and tired of the woe is me schtick. Don't like it, go be a White Sox fan.

David is one of the more optimistic and rational posters on the board. He should be able to get away with a negative thought or two.
