I don't understand our approach tonight at all. We watched so many crushable pitches right down the heart of the plate and couldn't let a curve in the dirt go by.

We need to completely flip the script on Kluber. The lefties better show they can identify and punish that inside 2-seam this time around.

We still got this but we have a lot of work to do. Sucks that Wrigley won't witness a title clincher though.

After seeing what this Indians team is all about, I feel that we can beat them where Boston and Toronto couldn't: with defense. Am I completely wrong in thinking that had Heyward been in RF in the 7th that this game could still be going on?

Dong'a are great and all, but if the Indians aren't going to give up a lot of runs, we need to take away theirs. Time to take Heyward off punishment. Time to see what AA can really do with the glove work.

Given that at least one other person (yours truly included) wondered the same, nope, you're not alone.

I was really thinking (hoping) JayHey would be in RF tonight, bat notwithstanding. If I ever catch Soler lollygagging to a ball hit in RF or hesitating his run out of the batter's box again, I'll tap Jeff Gillooly to take him out at the knees.

Incidentally, did the Indians hit anything to LF, much less anything tricky?

Edit: oh yes, a couple. One I now recall Zobrist had to run a ways to get.

Settle horsefeathering down guys. Unfortunate we aren't going to win at home and have to do it on the road. The starting pitchers on short rest is going to win this series for us

Prediction for tomorrow is that Klubers 2 seam isnt moving as crazy (wont be able to go to the mouth as much in warm weather) & he will be a bit tired and miss the corners for pitches we can punish.

Lets Do This!!!

If we win tomorrow, I think we're back to being the favorites.

However, just listing the starting pitchers for the rest of the series doesn't quite do the Indians justice. This is a literal bullpen of doom, so the starting pitching matchups don't matter nearly as much as we want them to.

I d oubt there's many players in the league that would be running full speed when that was hit off his at bat, but Soler haters gonna hate. Yea, he could have probably scored, but noone is going to be doing that. Unless he's white and gritty. Lets start Coghlan

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

GRIMM!

That POS was lucky beyond belief that Lindor topped that ball for the deuce.

He did exactly what he usually does which is get behind in the count and then throw meat so he doesn't walk the guy.

That pitch was right down the pipe and could have easily ended up in the bleachers

A worthless piece of dung is Justin Grimm.

the wheely chair curse? IT was a good story, and i don't mean to offend anyone, but the narrative that Tomlin pitched the greatest game of his life while his dad made the game will quickly get annoying if it hasn't already. I'm not watching any ost game horsefeathers

They need to have a lead to get to that bullpen with starters on short rest on top of bullpen arms we've touched but not quite taken advantage of. It's okay

This game was deleted with the quickness. Flush it and move on to the next one.

My past three hours were filled with anger, frustration, and doubt, but that's stopping right now. After my Heyward rant the other day and especially after this loss, I've decided to sit back and just enjoy the Cubs being in the World Series. By all means they should get back here multiple times in the next 7-8 years, but what if they don't? If baseball becomes cruel and this is it, I want to absorb every damn inning of it as much as I can. This time next week it's all going to be over one way or the other. The Cubs are in the World Series guys, one of our most precious dreams has come true. May whatever is supposed to happen from here, happen.

We need to get more hits other wise we won't score the runs necessary to win. You win some you lose some as they say.

At the end of the day that's baseball. Hell gentleman, that's a little thing called life.

As a tribe fan, I don't feel great about Kluber today. And I feel way, way worse about Bauer the next day. Seriously, anyone else.

I felt pretty confident in Tomlin tonight (although admittedly not 0 runs confident). He has been amazing for the past two months and had a really good season aside from a ridiculously bad 2ish WHIP August. I still don't feel confident about the series, but tonight put me back in 50/50 territory.

538 estimates that took the Cubs from 62% to 37% to win the series.

lol what is the point of these stupid percentages. "cubs are 60% to win! oh they lost well now they're 40%! Oops they won again, back to 60% Crap they lost, uhhhh 37%!"

Most #postseason  shutout losses in a season by an eventual #WorldSeries  winner: 3 by 1981 Dodgers.

#Cubs are already at 4.

So you're resorting to the most/least X by a World Series winner logic. Well go on, then. I can assure you that there's a lot more where that came from. What are you waiting for? Chop-chop.

Yeah, we're not benching Javy. Stop it

If so, it wouldn't be a benching so much as an odd man out. I still firmly believe that the best way to nest these guys is with defense. Put Almora in LF, Heyward in RF. Obviously, this means Russell at SS. Javy may be a better all around 2B than Zobrist, but Zobrist has been our one consistent bat this series.

I doubt it will go down like this, but if so, it would be nice to have the bats of Schwarber, Javy, and Soler late in the game.

Speaking of the game, whomever's up, drag your ass out of bed, wipe away the bourbon laced tears and, and get to work.

I'm not going to freak out or anything, because why start now? We were in this position against the Dodgers and made out all right. And throwing nothing but starters on short rest is a really, really dumb idea. I think it backfires magnificently.

The circumstances are a lot different than the Dodgers series. But, it's basically the same thing: Win tomorrow and we're set up really well to take the series. I really thought we were going to run over them last night, though. Ah well, it's not going to be easy.
