Talk me off the ledge, boys.

Fred made us lose yesterday just so he'd get his game thread, right?

I'm not actually on the ledge btw but I really want a win to make me feel happy again.

The Cubs are the better team and if Jake is decent tonight, we'll go home tied with the ERA leader against a dude with a 4.4 ERA. On Saturday, Cleveland will be staring at a 2-1 deficit with their ace on short rest.

Also, we were down 2-1 to LA and we're going to have to beat one of the two guys who just shut us out to advance.

I dont think there is anyway Montero DOESN'T start at Catcher, but of course I didn't think Maddon would basically bench Heyward in the World Series after sticking with him for 172 games, so who knows

Would you ever consider flipping the Fowler, Bryant, Rizzo, Zo combo to the bottom of the order and go Contreras, Russell, Schwarber, BAEZ to start the game?

I think we should take the 4 guys that all have near .400 OBPs and ... move them

dude i'm pretty sure you have been drunk the last two days

or this is what it's like when you actually post in the baseball areas

I'm just thinking in terms of who's hot and who's cold. Total overreaction. But, Bryant is seriously slumping

He's hitting .310/.396/.500 in the playoffs.

I mean... what? He has a 900 OPS in the playoffs.

Montero behind the plate, against an Indians team who loves to run, would be a very bad decision. We tried the personal catcher horsefeathers with Jake in LA, and that obviously didn't change much. Go with one of your best hitters and a guy who can actually keep baserunners at bay with his arm, please.

Show your work please.

So if this gets to 5 innings, and the skies open with no end in sight all of Thursday, would they do a rain shortened game in the World Series?

No, they don't do those. The 08 Series had a game that was concluded after being postponed during play. It might have even been the last one.

Im actually getting concerned about minny. He's been saying increasingly erratic things over the last week or so.

I wonder if they'd consider benching Russell, who, HRs aside, has been baaaaaaaad.

No

I personally wouldn't, but he's been struggling.

And for the record, not that my opinion matters, I wouldn't start Soler.

I think he actually does this a lot and we don't notice it as much because it's mostly in Other Sports and Social

Yes, at the time the rule in place was that you *could* have a rain shortened game in the World Series, but at the time Selig said he would have used his commissioners discretion or whatever it is called to make sure it wouldn't happen. And then after the season he officially changed the rules so that it wouldn't happen.

Russell had a bad night last night, but he'd been fine/good the 3 games previous.

His defense is too good, at one of the 2-3 most important positions on field, to sit him. He's shown that even when he looks awful one game he can look fine the next offensively.

In the 3 games prior to last night he was 6-13 with 2 home runs.

Obviously tonights game is pretty much must win and with their 2 best bullpen guys fatigued Cubs need to take advantage ...Francona will not hesitate to throw Miller out there again. Its been a curse erasing season no reason why tonight shouldnt turn for us

I agree with you.

I guess I'm just surprised that he'd be willing to start Soler and trying to figure out the knock-off effect that has on other spots.
