I personally wouldn't, but he's been struggling.

And for the record, not that my opinion matters, I wouldn't start Soler.

His defense is too good, at one of the 2-3 most important positions on field, to sit him. He's shown that even when he looks awful one game he can look fine the next offensively.

I agree with you.

I guess I'm just surprised that he'd be willing to start Soler and trying to figure out the knock-off effect that has on other spots.

Joe started Chris Coghlan last night. Is Soler more or less surprising than that?

It's either going to be Soler over Willy or Soler over Heyward (with Willy catching). Is my guess. I don't mind the Soler start. But I'm a bigger fan of his than most, even tho the results aren't there I think he's had some decent PAs this postseason.

More, I suppose, since at least Coghlan gives you a theoretical advantage against a RHP. Soler hasn't done anything of note in a couple months.

There. I've criticized the guy so he can go 1-3 w/ a BB and 2B tonight, too.

Maddon is in full "horsefeathers it Players are just gonna deal with it" mode, which, I appreciate from a certain angle.

That lineup also makes me dearly wish for having the DH in the NL

Very nice.

Again, since Heyward can't hit, this is basically the new "Voltron lineup" that we were excited about in Spring Training.

We got two games out of this in Anaheim.

Montero and Ross played in Anaheim

Dear Fred:

Some obnoxious Cards fan posted a pic on his FB timeline of a redbird with an Indians face superimposed. Make him pay with a dong fest against the Tribe, will ya? Thanks.

Would you ever consider flipping the Fowler, Bryant, Rizzo, Zo combo to the bottom of the order and go Contreras, Russell, Schwarber, BAEZ to start the game?

You've done lost your mind.

One of my weather apps makes it look like this thing is getting in easily 0% rain after nine only 30% for an hour after game start and the other has like 60% chance or better of rain all night.

I wish I didn't care much just because it makes me question my sanity. Like, I didn't care as much pre game but once we feel behind and lost I couldn't sleep because I'm like "what if we don't get here again? We gotta get it done" I feel like I'm a grown person, why does millionaires playing sports do this to me.

I was thinking along those lines last night too. Pretty philosophical for a sports board, but this isn't an ordinary sports board (TG). At any rate, we're all great at mis-prioritizing: stuff over people, games over RL.

Nice. Maddon is trying to put some runs on the board. Defense doesn't matter if you just outscore them.

Hopefully Arrieta doesn't freak out with Wilson catching him.
