This has been one hell of a night. As soon as the cubs game ended my wife's labor got to the point that we needed to get to the hospital, and then 1 hour later my son was born. He must have realized that if he waited much longer he would miss the world series.

Congrats! Could you make us some sandwiches now?

If Edwards is done, anyone know if there's a limit on how soon the Cubs have to declare him out? Like if he doesn't pitch tomorrow (which he probably wouldn't anyway), could they say he's hurt on Friday or do they have to do it before the next game?

Do they even have to declare him anything per MLB rules? I don't think it's too serious, plus if they decide to replace him on the roster, he wouldn't be elligible for the next series as well. Basically it's going to have to be something pretty serious for them to even consider replacing him.

Highlights, highlights here, highlights.

Listening to that Addy HR it sounded like they were at Wrigley. Cub fans making some noise in LA.

Javier Merman. I like it.

Won't happen. But I'd go Lester, Jake, Kyle. It's gonna take a near perfect game to beat Kershaw in 6. If Jake is god mode we get it. If not, we lose anyway. But Kyle can beat Hill in G7 without risking another Jake clunker against a team of lefties.

Jake on 3 days rest seems like setting him up to fail.

Maybe. Guys go on 3 days rest in the playoffs all the time. But that's obviously not my concern. My concern is not wasting a great Hendricks start against an amazing Kershaw.

Joe won't do it bc it's not zen. But it gives us the best chance to win the series. If you have the 2nd and 3rd best starters between the 6 left to pitch, you don't put them up against the best starter. You let the 4th or 5th best guy face him and significantly increase your chances to win the other 2.

Congrats!!! I hope you, the mrs, and little baby Dickbag McHorseteeth are doing well!

All Cubs starting pitchers need defamatory nicknames in game threads for the remainder of the playoffs.

My son was born a month before the Bears were in the Super Bowl. Your son cut things a lot closer....

My daughter was born about 3 weeks after the Super Bowl. It was there best make-up gift I could ever ask for.

No, your son can't get her number.

However, let her know that she now has to continue giving birth every game day until we win the series.

How about instead of wasting the outing the Cubs win the game? Kershaw is not an unstoppable force.

What is so hard about that call on Gonzalez? It's 100% the right call according to the rules. Now, if you write into the rules that the replay umpire can simply go by what he feels or thinks or what things look like, fine call him safe. But if you have to have definitive evidence to over turn the umpire's call, then he's out. No angle could prove whether or not his hand touched the plate.

Yeah, Buck & Smoltz screwed up on that one.

It looked like his hand was just over the plate, but not touching it until he was getting tagged. It's only 100% clear he's touching home plate a couple frames after the tag was applied. Really close though (and I think if they called him safe initially he would have been safe on review).

We'll just shove little Javy McHorseteeth right back up in her and do it all again tonight.

They're still harping about Gonzalez being called out at home.

It doesn't bother me seeing them complaining in the postgame or whatever, but for some reason going on twitter and continuing to complain rubs me the wrong way. Quit whining you lost 10-2.

Pre Game:

Her: Honey, I think the baby's coming.

You: Alright, just let me know.

Bottom 5th

Her: I think my water just broke.

You: Just get a towel, you'll be fine. This is big.

Top 6th:

Her: I think you should pull the car around.

You: Ok, hang on. I think we're about to break this open.

Bottom 9th:

Her: It'a time. I mean it.

You: Ok, I'll get the car. Right after this-

Her (Ala The Excorcist:) I will horsefeathering kill you and beat the horsefeathers out of your ghost!

You: I'll get the car.

If it were up to me, I'd add Hammel and send him against the very beatable Maeda, and then I'd like our chances at Wrigley to take at least one of Lester vs. Kershaw or Hendricks vs. Hill. But if not, like you said, I don't like the idea of wasting a Hendricks start vs. Kershaw, and then we're relying on Reliable Mid Rotation Mode Jake vs. Hill to stay alive. I wouldn't hate our chances, but I wouldn't love them.
