Won't happen. But I'd go Lester, Jake, Kyle. It's gonna take a near perfect game to beat Kershaw in 6. If Jake is god mode we get it. If not, we lose anyway. But Kyle can beat Hill in G7 without risking another Jake clunker against a team of lefties.

Jake on 3 days rest seems like setting him up to fail.

They're still harping about Gonzalez being called out at home.

You can tell everyone at FS1 is really upset it turned into a blowout so they can't turn it into a huge controversy.

5 more please, just to be safe

Prescient

(Reading through game thread bc the site stopped working for me)

(Oh and thanks for banning that ass clown after page 19 when he called Rizzo gutless)

What is so hard about that call on Gonzalez? It's 100% the right call according to the rules. Now, if you write into the rules that the replay umpire can simply go by what he feels or thinks or what things look like, fine call him safe. But if you have to have definitive evidence to over turn the umpire's call, then he's out. No angle could prove whether or not his hand touched the plate.

With the Edwards injury and Lackey being limited, pitch count wise, tonight. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lackey out of the bullpen yet this series. Or at least hear Joe promised him that so he doesn't go a gobble down his apple tree in his backyard.

lol gonzalez was clearly out sooooo

Yup.

i mean, you can CLEARLY see his hand come further down and touch the plate AFTER contreras tags him, so I'm not sure wtf there is even controversy about. his hand was over the plate but not on it. and even if you think otherwise, which may be fair, there was DEFINITELY no irrefutable evidence allowing an overturn.

This part I missed. Anything serious?

He hurt his hamstring apparently. No idea the seriousness

Maddon says hopefully cramps but they won't know until tomorrow and Edwards described the pain as less than mild.

Sucks. No doubt going to open the door for Hammel, Smith, or Cahill.

I don't know, it looked to me when I saw the play that the tag was on the chin after his hand hit plate. Watching more I can see inconclusive but I don't really see how he was clearly out.

Gonzalez is bitching about it on twitter so that's fun. Guess he really wanted to lose by 7 instead.

We'll see. I would think if it isn't too bad, they will just avoid using him tomorrow and get extra rest the off day. Heck, ideally we have a couple more blowouts to make it a moot point.

Pete Rose is kind of a goofy old man and I kinda...don't mind him.

Tomorrow doesn't feel so dire now. I have faith we can take two in our home ball park if we have to. I'd prefer to win tomorrow and get the most horsefeathers up I've ever gotten in my life Saturday night.

If Lee Corso is alive for another 10 years I expect him to be like Rose is today.

Also Rose can go horsefeathers a pile of horsefeathers.

Yeah I didn't take away that he was clearly out, it looked like a legitimate tie. The edge of his mit looks like it hit his chin at the exact time the tips of his fingers were touching the plate. It may have been as close to a tie as you can get, and in that case the evidence is inconclusive and the call stands.

Theres no way the camera angle had a better view than the home plate ump. So, yea I cant see how it's overturned. Thought it was hilarious them talking about on the post game show that two other umps on the field told him he was safe lol.

If Edwards is done, anyone know if there's a limit on how soon the Cubs have to declare him out? Like if he doesn't pitch tomorrow (which he probably wouldn't anyway), could they say he's hurt on Friday or do they have to do it before the next game?

He said he's fine.

I thought before this game "well if we win it's 2-2 and it's a best of 3 and we get home field advantage" and it helped me contextualize the game. And then we won like THIS and Rizzo and Russell get very healthy.

Feels good man.
