I left work and it was 5-2 and I'd turned the game off on my phone, checked At Bat and saw we had 2 on, so despite the fake rally alarm bells I knew I had to listen to Pat and Ron on the drive home and now I'm hoarse.

I held my 8 week old son and watched the postgame interviews with him and it was a moment I'll never forget. I hope I get a few more of those this month.

Go Cubs Go

It was amazing watching with my 10 year old daughter who has no concept of curses or [expletive]. She looked at me when I was going negative in the 8th inning and said "Dad, calm down, they are going to win this game. This team never loses." Oh how the perspective has changed.

Careful Kris, Rizzo's boyfriend La Stella might get jealous.

Does anyone want to guess what the all-time record is for a team trailing by 3 heading into the 9th of a postseason game?

3-864 ......well 4-864 now

What are the others?

I gotta give credit where it's due. Even though I think Vasgersian can be kind of a prick at times and occasionally makes fun of newfangled stats, I really enjoyed his calls of our big plays this series.

The last one was Game 5 of the 1986 ALCS between the Red Sox and Angels. Not sure about the other 2.

He clearly loves Baez.

I think he's great -- I'm usually extremely hard on announcers, but he's really good. The only issue I had with him were some of his horsefeathers up's in Game 3, and then whatever the hell drivel he was talking about the "ex-White Sox factor" yesterday with Gillaspie.

I went back and had to read this thread from the 7th inning on until the end of the game. Those of you that were still confident that they'd win this game... =D>

My feelings on the game exactly echoed what Theo said in the locker room. I was preparing for G5 with Cueto starting and Bumgarner in the pen. But when Zobrist worked the count to 3-1 and got that double, I felt pretty good that they were at least going to come through and tie the game. This team is something else. Thanks Hendry, for at least not leaving the cupboard for Theo/Jed/McLeod completely bare with Javy and Willson.

TIL he was a front runner for the job opening (and may have passed it up) when Len got it. I did not remember that.

yeah, sure he got loud for the big plays and rightfully praised Baez. But several times he referred to Almora "failing" to make what was an impossible play and needing to redeem himself and it wasn't until the very end that the tone shifted from the giants being an unstoppable force and the Cubs being lucky to be on the field with them. Like all national broadcasters he fell back hard on the Cubs are the Cubs storyline as if they weren't the 103 win team this year.

The other 3 were within 5 days of each other in the 1986 playoffs.

Yep, both by the Mets. One in the NLCS and the other was the Buckner game.

yeah, that national narrative is annoying as horsefeathers but thank god it will be over with for good in a few weeks.

I've got scientific proof on superstitions being real -

Game 1 - tried out a couple of different Cubs hat through the night, but i stuck with one after Javy donged

Game 2 - wore that hat

Game 3 - did not wear that hat

Game 4 - wore that hat

Your welcome for screwing up Game 3, leading to the epic game 4 come back

Looks like the wind will be howling out on Sat.

Wouldn't mind sitting Heyward in favor of Willy or Soler, even if it's against a solid righty like Maeda or Roark.
