Bochy really botched that 9th inning. He over thought everything. Chose Bitch face Law to start the inning and takes him out after a seeing eye (though hard hit) single. Closer faces 1 batter. Chose struggling LHP vs Contreras instead of RHP/closer vs Coghlan. Clearly didn't trust anyone in the pen, and got lucky that Moore was able to give him 8.

He also could have had a lefty facing heyward with bases loaded and a gidp or shallow pop the inevitable outcome.

I muted this game after the 8th inning, and it was suddenly much easier to watch. Hard to tell if it was because Smoltz and Vasgersian finally STFU'd, or if it was because of all the runs and the winning and the champagne and the magic. Toss up.

Probably didn't want to put on the winning run. But I think that's a stupid narrative in general.

I told you that you'd love the ninth!

Yep. You called this horsefeathers.

please share awesome cubs fan stories from the park.

also...giants fans misery porn stories.

There were a couple Giants fans after the game who said "Cubs suck" or "Scrubs" or "Eff the Cubs" but for the most part people were cool. Had a handful of people say good luck before the game and a few say good luck afterwards as well.

We were sitting upper deck down the LF line almost behind the foul pole but my friend kept checking the Gametime app and we ended up scoring tickets in 103 (down the RF line but lower deck) row 34 for only $25 more apiece (fees included). Since the next cheapest was almost twice as expensive and in the upper deck, we jumped on it.

There was a family of 4 in front of us with one kid 8-10 years old who was a Giants fan and his older brother (couple years older) who was wearing a Lester jersey. Top of the ninth, the older brother not only turns his hat inside out but his jersey as well. Obviously that was a key to the comeback.

Really excited the Cubs aren't playing tonight, guys.

Yep. I mean, I want to watch the Cubs play, but yeah...not an NLDS game 5.

i'm not sure, but in rewatching the 9th inning just now, i think they played kashmir at the end of the top of the 9th, which i believe they've been playing at wrigley when chapman comes in

Lol wut? They play Wake Up by Rage Against the Machine when Chapman comes in.

I remember Tom Morello posting on social media about how excited he was when they played Wake Up the first time Chapman came out of the pen. He was there and had no idea they were going to play his song.

That was nice. I still want him to die.

His tears were delicious.
