I want to pound on the Mets, who are not currently in a playoff spot, and I welcome the comments from Mets fans about how they will get us back in the playoffs.

Mets fans are really hurting right now after being swept by the Nats. Winning this series, or sweeping it could really do some significant morale damage...at least to the fans.

Up until last week, the Cubs had won at least 3 games in every 4-game series this year. Mets have Matz and Syndergaard who both currently have elbow issues on the bookends of this series. Both were pretty well lit up in their last starts. The Cubs have the potential send both these guys to the operating table, or at worst get into the pen early, if they run up their pitch counts. I'd really like to take both of those games against possibly injured pitchers. And horsefeathers Bartolo Colon, so we better not lose to that fat ass either. Cubs take NYC, 3 of 4.

He doesn't pitch until Sunday but Syndergaard has allowed 28 stolen bases this year in 15 starts. That's a pace of 56 for 30 starts and 61.6 for 33 starts. For comparison's sake, Lester only allowed 44 all of last year.

I watched some of his last start against the Nats, and they were running at will on him. It really seemed to affect him, too.

In his last start, the Nats obviously had a gameplan to run up Thor's pitch count (shocking for a Dusty-managed team). Darling was openly whining about it in the booth, as if the Nats were cheating or doing something dirty.

I'm not sure how serious a bone spur is, but it sounds like something that might want to be resolved prior to pitching again.

It all depends where they are located, iirc. When the Lester thing was going on in ST they basically said his didn't matter because of the location it couldn't affect much but if it moves/grew it could become a problem.

I was hoping to see the Cubs face Harvey this series and light him up. He last pitched Tuesday, are they going with a 6 man rotation?

apparently the bone spurs bothered matz enough that he was going to have season ending surgery to remove them, but the Mets FO talked him out of it...

Weird to not have Heyward in the lineup 2 days in a row even if it's 2 lefties. Something else wrong with him?

Also seems like Maddon trying to let Bryant settle in at 3B. I'd think Javy at 3B, Zobrist at 2B with Bryant in the OF but has not been the case the last 2 days.

Heyward not even listed as bench guy at the bottom...
