That strikeout pitch to Cabrera was nasty. Lackey is really sharp to start the game.

Also, in my opinion, Willson looks like he's going to be really solid behind the plate.

Man, how can you not love what Almora has shown. I spent the last few years pretending he didn't exist and pretending we didn't totally waste the #6 pick, but now he's probably an above average regular.

He looks bigger than he did even last fall and presents a bigger target than I thought. There's some noticable enough jabbing still, but that's out of my league beyind being able to notice it.

I've seen it, but it has been when the pitcher misses the spot badly when I've noticed. That happens with every catcher. Maybe I'm just not watching him on the right pitches.

Agreed...thought his ceiling was Szczur. Who knows if he can keep this up, but pretty encouraging to see what he's done so far.

In a similar note, I keep having to remind myself that Ian Happ was a top 10 draft pick and we should be legitimately excited about what he's doing in right now (already up to AA!). I associate him with the 'good times' and just assume he's either a late first round pick or not even a first rounder at all. I mentioned in another thread how as long as we had 35 year old Ben Zobrist playing second, we had the ability to upgrade our offense. The solution to that might be internal too. Theo, man...

Addy should have struck out there, but I'll take it.

Top part of the zone, just like the edges on both sides of the plate have been about 50/50

Now is the time to spin him for Randal Grichuk, before he becomes Gary Scott.

i remember looking up gary scott's minor league stats one time, and wondering why in the hell he got any hype at all. i guess the cubs' minor league system was so pathetic that he was the best they had to offer at the time.

Who was the third baseman that followed him, kevin orie?

Steve Beuchele?

The "jump" that Cespedes got on that fly ball took about a full half second of reaction time.
