When our pitchers get out of a jam: good pitching.

When their pitchers get out of a jam: bad hitting.

Good night.

I would call out the opponents shitty hitting if our pitches threw 26 balls and 4 strikes and their guys swung at about 24 of those pitches

Not defending Peralta by any means, he's a washed up bum. But I doubt he's in the game tonight if not for the fallout from the Reds series taxing the bullpen. Edwards, Grimm and Wood were all probably unavailable to pitch tonight. This one sucks but games like these happen. This team competes in so many games a lot of teams roll over for or don't have a chance to be in. Tough/close losses are gonna be a byproduct of that

We used Cahill the very next inning. Madden [expletive] the bed.

Cahill has poor splits versus lefties and they had two in a row coming up, plus a switch hitter after that.

I don't know the stat, but the Cubs really seem to struggle scoring with a man on third and less than 2 outs.

Anyone know where they stand compared to league average??

League average, the runner scores 51% of the time. Cubs are at 53% of the time, which is tied for 10th in MLB. Cubs's BA is .373 in these situations, which is 7th in MLB.

Yeah, it wasn't a great alternative, but Peralta has nothing.

Thanks, I'm a bit surprised by this. Seems like the numbers would be worse. Maybe because it's so frustrating when they don't score, it just stands out more.

Meh, who cares. Not like the Mets are gonna make the playoffs. i wish Heyward or somebody had pinch run instead of Wood. If so, games tied right now. :/

the mets are probably even money to make the playoffs.

Not after Thor and Matz' arms fall off.

If it makes you feel better (or not) last year they were dead last in getting runners home in those situations

I think I remember seeing fangraphs had them at 50.1% today

Fake rally's suck. I got over the shitty Baez decision that cost them the lead and was already at the "oh well if we lose we lose" point. Then zobrist hits the double and suddenly I'm "holy crap this team is so amazing we will win this" only to be more devastated than I should be about a relatively unimportant June baseball game.

Can we beat a good team?

I have them at 14-14 against "good" teams this year but only 2 wins in the last 11 games against them.

Yeah, but that comment probably really irritated the few Mets fans that came here to witness our reaction to the loss. Worth it.

Was ross really the only PR option left? I didbt realize that. It really irritated me that the damn pitcher we had PRing didnt score on the double by Zobrist, but i guess if thats true then its a moot point.
