I know some other dumb stuff has happened this game, but I still can't wrap my mind around what the Cubs thought they saw in Peralta.

 

You want to see if you can find lightning in a bottle fine but putting him in to face the tying run with the top of the order due up in the 7th inning isn't really what I would recommend.

Oh well good teams lose to less good teams. That said when you have a 2-0 lead on an injured matz 2 batters into the game and 2 of the next 3 opposing starters are deGrom and Syndergard you definitely want to try to win this one

 

If they end up losing its more just disappointing because it felt like they really didn't have to lose. It wasn't bad luck or anything. It was just using a really [expletive] pitcher in a high leverage situation and then letting the [expletive] pitcher continue to pitch.

 

It was also one of your best defensive players making a really poor decision at the worst possible time
