Never any doubt that they'd win the last one, even with Hammel looking the most mortal he has all season. Not even the howling fury of nature itself could stop Bryant from sending a dong screaming out of the stadium. The Nationals have been through hell, but they must face one final trial before being sent on their way, and this one is the most brutal, unforgiving one of them all.

The Nats continue their trend of sending out pitchers who look unsure at best about their chosen career path:

That mug has "OH JEEZ, I HOPE I DON'T horsefeathers THIS UP" plastered all over it. Well, sorry, Tanner; you will. Fortunately, he's an Illinois boy, so he'll have family nearby to clean his wounds and curse the uncaring gods for smiting him in such a savage fashion.

Jake, meanwhile, is going to keep on juicin'. Juicing the blood of Zeus Himself that courses through his veins. Let's enjoy a picture of him victorious and glistening:

The Cubs cannot be stopped. Time to complete about as much of a throwdown challenge to the rest of the sport as you can muster by sweeping the Pirates and the Nats. They will not be denied.

Can't believe nobody has commented on Cahill in the Arrieta picture yet. That's quality stuff.

I seriously thought that must be Ricketts' fat nephew.

Holy horsefeathers, me too. I just thought, "oh, that dude must be staff."

There are six teams at least 7.5 games out of first place right now. Four of them are in the NL Central.

I'll give the Nats this: they've played the Cubs tough in every game. But it just isn't enough.

Eh, I guess. But they've also scored 6 runs in the 8th and 9th innings in the 1st 2 games which turned blowouts into save situations. 4 of those runs against guys who wouldn't have been in the game if they were not 5 and 6 run leads, respectively.

That sounds like classic Dusty, yes we're losing but look at them they are just t really good today there's nothing wrong with us.

Insert fishing analogy and tip your cap.

Easily the worst lip-syncing I've ever seen.

So, congrats to you.

Oh, man. Thank you.

I'm drunk right now and I was totally braced for someone to be talking horsefeathers again. So, to instead be presented with genuine humor is a nice treat.

Yeah, they've really fucked up our run differential pace. We need to win this one by about 8 to straighten things out.

After losing 3 of 4, the Washington Nationals need their signature ailment.

“It seems like they’re getting everything they need over there,” manager Dusty Baker said, “and everything that they want.”

“Everything is just falling the Cubs’ way right now,” center fielder Ben Revere said. “That’s baseball. What can you do?”

“Special talent,” Harper said. “They’ve got a great team. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to a team that plays really well.”

I'm fine with them calling today an "everything's falling the Cubs way" game. 4 of our runs scored on Kalish's bloop hit and Russells ball on the line. Although even still the Cubs influence their luck by getting runners on base early and often, working the count and getting starters out of the game early.
