The rapidly aging corpse of Ben Zobrist already has a dong, so yes, I don't think its unreasonable to expect Heyward to have a dong

Gawd I can't wait for him to dong so the requests to see a dong will be relaxed.

Yeah, that near decade in age difference between Heyward and Zobrist means alot.

I mean, I still wouldn't have expected so much dong requests from Zobrist at 26, either. Face it, Heyward isn't a big-time donger.

But I've said enough on this now. I have been the dong spoiler too much this afternoon. May we all see a bunch of dongs tonight.

Any chance this is temp related? I'm not sure where I could look up weather-related splits. All I know is he's played in the south his whole career.

Given the Cubs schedule to date, Home/Road splits are basically a proxy for game played below/above 60 degrees.

Heyward has a .279 OPS (yes, OPS) at Home and .771 on the Road thus far.

The wrist thing worries me a bit because my observation is that sometimes wrist injuries can last a long time and can zap a hitters power if it hurts enough.

According to Jesse Rogers on twitter Heyward thought he was playing yesterday until Joe told him he wasn't. So the "injury" can't be too serious and it sounds like he could possibly play tonight.

To piggyback on that, we're facing a lefty, he shouldn't play whether the wrist hurts or not.

He has a near 1.000 OPS vs Niese in 31 PAs, so he should be playing against him if healthy. Also he's so good defensively he shouldn't be sitting, "because lefties." Sure if they want to give him an off day it would be preferable that it's a game against a LHP, but he should rarely be sitting if he's healthy.

Yeah, it would be one thing if they were struggling for offense and had to desperately micro-manage the bats, but it would be nonsense to do that at this point. If he's healthy he's still plenty valuable even if he's not hitting.

Also the last 3 years vs LHP he's had OPS's of ~.700, ~.470, and ~.800 so it's not like he's guaranteed to be some offensive black hole of production vs LHP and he's shown he can perform just fine vs them.

He's had this injury for a while, but just now told the Cubs. Was icing it himself, but the training staff has already improved his wrist? Sheesh don't try to be a doc Jason.

It is pretty damn amazing that we can be at the beginning of May and with Schwarber out and Heyward dealing with this and I'm not worried about the team kicking ass at all.

Interesting read. I hope this is the Cubs working on his pitch selection and knowing what they are doing.

Signs of life, I guess?

Heyward in June .278/.350/.556 in 36 AB

Yeah, he looks much, much better. Swing much smoother and with more authority. Really have to wonder if the wrist was indeed a big issue.

He's up to 1.0 fWAR now too.
