Actually a pretty smart set of moves by the Yankees. They're far enough from contention that they couldn't pass up the opportunity to cash in on two top shelf relievers, yet close enough that it made sense to replace them with a reliable, reasonably priced option.

I kind of see where he's coming from. If traded to someone like the Mets or Cubs, he's more likely to have that option ripped up in favor of a fat extension than he would be with the Indians, and he'd prefer that sooner than later in case his clod of a wife smashes his hand with another suitcase.

Lucroy wanted his option ripped up, making him a rental. That could be the case for any deal involving him. I thought the return seemed light, that looks to be why. My guess is he's told the Brewers to tell teams that, up front. Surprising he won't go to Cleveland, not a great look for him.

Especially after what he said in the offseason.

Soler+Happ+Candelario+PTBNL or something. Too much/too little for Lucroy? I don't want to give up Contreras or Jiminez

Too much. Replace Happ with someone like Zagunis and it's probably fair.

Soler/Happ/Montgomery/Montero+Cash for Lucroy and Will Smith.

Cody Bellinger and Alex Verdugo are sitting today(top 50 prospects). The Dodgers could be getting ready to do something fairly big.

Rich Hill/Josh Reddick maybe, if the rumors are accurate.

Cashman really [expletive] Theo on this one

Well yeah we gave up a lot but this is also a lot for the Indians to give up. Basically emptied their system between this and the Lucroy trade. And word is the Yankees liked Indians prospects more in a Miller trade. They really wanted Frazier.

Additionally, the Cubs have no pitching prospect as good as Sheffield.

Rosenthal just tweeted they're gunning for Archer.

It's hard for me to say Theo got fleeced by cashman if cashman was insistent on schwarber. Nothing you can do there

I don't see that narrative at all.

Remember when we were all upset about having Kyle Hendricks instead of Randall Delgado because of a vetoed trade?

No. I remember being upset that the Delgado thing fell through, then there was the whole he'd only accept a trade to the Dodgers so they had all the leverage and we'd end up being screwed, then I remember being relieved when we ended up with a the kind of package that we'd expected to get before Delgadogate happened; a back end of the top 100 prospect (Villanueva) and maybe another piece (Hendricks.)

I have a lot of faith in Willson. I don't want to spend the assets it would take to get Lucroy.

I believe in Willson quite a bit long term, although if things don't tick up a bit with Montero, I'm a little worried about next season specifically. Finding another C that's good enough for Contreras insurance but not a waste of resources(since he wouldn't be an outright starter) isn't going to be a particularly easy task.

Bud Norris just left at 13 pitches. Dodgers rotation is now Kazmir/Maeda/McCarthy.....They're after Archer and/or Moore. Looks like they'll need both to fill out their 5 man.

And Urias is probably getting close to innings limits. They should call up De Leon.
