I worry about 2 things with Schwarber

1) re-injury

2) an auto out

the second one you really cant do much about except hope he adjusts to major league pitching quickly. The first one, is there a doc in here who can rest my mind with "the likelihood of reinjury doesn't matter if its 6 mns or 6 years after an injury"?

He literally got cleared by his/their doctor(s) and Jed and other FO guys have said they wouldn't be putting him in a spot to risk another injury/long-term health. Outside of something flukey happening again he shouldn't be any more or less likely to get hurt than anyone else out there now that he got cleared by the doctors and finished his rehabilitation program.

In other sports like basketball/football you see re-injury happen or a residual injury happen (i.e. other knee goes out) but those sports have a million times more contact, running/jumping, and switching course of direction quickly over MLB.

Remember when we all dreamed of Schwarber miraculously returning for DH at-bats in the WS? I can't believe that's likely going to materialize.

Also, the roster spot Schwarber would be taking got 1 plate appearance in the NLDS and 0 IP in the NLCS. The opportunity cost is very, very small.

The Cubs would be quick to pull the trigger on him DHing if he looks lost out there and strictly use him as a PH. And timing issues or not I think there is some value to bring a guy with his power profile out to PH. Not only that but he is not afraid to take a walk. Pitchers will pitch him differently than they would a LaStella PH appearance because they fear the fact that he might hit one 450 feet.

Considering Sosa went on the DL for sneezing and hurting his back I'm sure they could get some semi-legit excuse to put Schwarber on the DL if they had to.

Morosey just lost his credibility when he just suggested that Schwarber would replace Soler on the roster

I mean, seriously, you barely have to be paying attention to know that's not even close to what's going to happen.

Yup. I just laughed out loud at that.

wow. I didnt think he hit any that hard

That ball he hit into the gap was absolutely smoked.

the one right at 2nd?

Theo's comment has to be in reference to the ball he hit yesterday or Saturday (I forget) into the RCF gap that the OF made a diving catch on, if I had to guess. Also could just be Theo horsefeathering around with the media/players

Has anyone figured out yet if exit velocity is actually useful?

Why would it not be? Especially when used with other evaluation measurements and statistics.
