Schwarber double down the line. Slid into second, didn't think he'd push for two in the AFL but he did.

 

He wasn't exactly booking it to second but decent enough speed for him to get 2 bases on balls that would be a double in most situations.

 

He just advanced to 3rd on a bunt but he was mostly jogging. And now gets to trot home casually on a HR.

 

 

I kinda wanted to see his movement on a sac fly.

Yeah but I don't think that's because he cant', he was probably asked not to push it when running the bases. Which is what would happen in the World Series as well.

 

If Schwarber is on the roster, he won't be there for a haircut or to run the bases.

Hmm...I know you have inside dirt, but that seems odd to hit him second after not playing for 6.5 months and facing a pitcher that struck him out 4 straight times when they faced each other last year, and there are several other options.

 

It also seems odd that they would have already made a final decision on Schwarber, much less settled on a lineup.

 

But that said, awesome if your source is right!

I took it as not being too motivated, not happy with the hit. totally reading into it. I didnt think it was because of his injury.

That's what I'm hoping happens. I don't believe in lineup construction but I believe in being comfortable and Bryant has been really good there. Hopefully it's just Schwarbs getting a bit too amped up when talking to buddies.

except, of course, ken, schwarber was injured over 6 months ago and was cleared to play by doctors while bauer hurt himself 3 days before and had a bloody stump for a pinky

Not to mention the fact that they didn't replace Bauer because they need him to start in the World series. He kinda blew it on that one.

I worry about 2 things with Schwarber

 

1) re-injury

2) an auto out

 

the second one you really cant do much about except hope he adjusts to major league pitching quickly. The first one, is there a doc in here who can rest my mind with "the likelihood of reinjury doesn't matter if its 6 mns or 6 years after an injury"?
